"I have been coming here since 2020. Not all but some staff weren’t very professional greeting or over the phone. I stood with them because I loved my dental hygienist Dr Aguirre who referred me to get braces & covered my cavities. She did such clean job & very knowledgeable on her profession. As I returned for a cleaning (2023) I noticed the new staff they have now are amazing! From the front desk to the dental assistants are so charming & welcoming now! I just got my 4 wisdom teeth removed on general anesthesia & doctor Javon Slaughter next to his assistant made sure I felt comfortable & put my concerns 1st since I wasn’t going to be put to sleep. I was up the whole time & didn’t feel a thing! They did such spectacular, smooth, clean job! I been there 3x since coming back & everytime I came I was received with a warm welcoming that would make anyone feel comfortable to address any concerns. If u had a bad experience few yrs ago I believe u would love the new staff now. I definitely recommend this place 1,000% now! give them a try!"

"I chose this location because it use to be minutes from my home in Matthews. My experience with the practice this year has been riddled with foolishness. I only returned to them because my other provider Night/Day Dentistry could not fit me in. So, the Matthews Office closed and moved to the University area. Oh, just to let you know there are two actual UDA offices with two different addresses in the same parking lot. This one is suite 300. The office canceled my appointment (August 27, 2022 at 4 pm) unbeknownst to me and is now scheduling out to October. My August appointment was schedule 6 months ago. It does not deserve a star. It deserves restructuring."

"I am so sorry I went through with this procedure. Before even having my consultation to see what services, if any, would be rendered payment was requested (over $1k) as soon as I walked in the door. I inquired about the process of getting a refund if I decided not to go through with the operation at all, and the front desk staff couldn’t provide an answer. Thus, I proceeded with my consultation (I was perplexed from the beginning when I was initially called & was told that they could do the consultation & operation in the same visit anyway). As a first time patient at this office & a first timer having any type of surgery, the front desk didn’t not make me feel comfortable as payment was the first thing requested, followed by indirect “threats” stating how they would stop mid operation if my driver left. I was concerned with this statement, as I don’t know anyone who would leave their loved one while in surgery with anesthesia, and what practitioner would stop in the midst of an operation due to their “ride leaving”. It was an unnecessary statement, as we are all adults here and not the best thing to say to someone who is preparing to undergo surgery. Would they really leave me in the operating chair, under anesthesia with a bloody mouth and a tooth hanging out and place me back in the Waiting area? What does that statement even mean? Again, unnecessary to mention that they would stop mid surgery, simply request for the driver to not leave. Continuing, once i reach the operating/consultation room, the doctor walked in ready to review and discuss, however the technician failed at having my X-Rays ready; I had not even had an X-ray taken, thus it portrayed things to be disorganized and a lack of communication with the team. I am an understanding individual, however my nerves were elevated with the thought of the procedure and even more when the technician accidentally blasted music while the doctor reviewed my x-ray. During the review, I asked the doctor for her professional opinion on the best option for my particular case with as little chance as nerve damage as possible (I am aware that medical professionals cannot 100% guarantee anything-I come from a background of medical professionals). She began her response with “I cannot make the decision for you.” There seemed to be a disconnect in the response, as I did not ask for her to make the decision for me and that was not the best response for good bedside manner. I inquired because I am no professional in reviewing x-rays in determining how close my teeth were to my nerves, and I wanted to make a best decision on whether I would get all 4 wisdom teeth removed or just the 1 that was bothering me the most (bottom right hand side). I was told that the chances for nerve damage was low (around 15%), and attempted to make the best decision off of the information provided. The initial hefty quote I was given over the phone was for all 4 teeth pulled, (the same amount they attempted to retain as soon as I arrived), but after review of x-rays and a decision was made to have them all removed, my price was significantly lower without explanation; of course I was again concerned that if I had not mentioned it to front desk-they would have taken the much higher amount with no delay, reimbursement or explanation (I hate to say this was for unethical monetary gain, however it did appear to be deceitful, as the office had my insurance on file since our very first discussion). I appreciate the doctor for communicating with my mother while I was in operation; I was told they would give me a follow-up call on the following Monday. Monday was a holiday, so I assumed I would get a call to ask questions and express concerns on Tuesday but no one has called to check. Well, today is Wednesday and I have had more pain in the tooth that had an coronectomy than the 3 others that were completely removed, which is concerning as I was under the impression that this was the less invasive procedure."
