"I am very pleased with my doctor and the level of care she provides. However, I am deeply disappointed by the policy of Envision Healthcare to deny patients the ability to use medical marijuana as one of the therapies for the treatment of chronic pain. In the state of New Jersey, where I see my doctor, the use of marijuana has now become legal for recreational use in addition to medical use. There have been many studies demonstrating the successful treatment of numerous medical conditions, including chronic pain, by supplementing other therapies with marijuana. I believe that Envision Healthcare needs to step up and follow the times in regards to this issue. In states where marijuana has been legalized, Envision must find a way to make this option either available to patients by participating in referrals for patients to the program, or limit repercussions to patients, such as discontinuing care, for their choice to incorporate marijuana into their healthcare routine in states where it is legal."
