"My autistic 6 year old daughter was removed from my home for DV (not child abuse) and placed here where she was being neglected and abused. She is non verbal, so she could not communicate with me on who was afflicting the abuse. She had numerous bruises on her arm, knotted hair and was losing weight (her school also confirmed with me some of the concerns they had with the way she was being treated as well in The Children's Center) this is extremely disturbing and disgusting. You don't remove a child from home to put them in a worse situation, especially a special needs child. This needs to be addressed. I wonder how long has behavior like this been occurring at this facility to other children who can't advocate for themselves. I spoke to 2 managers and they try to downplay the maltreatment my daughter was receiving here, but God forbid, if she was in my care and had bruises, I would be charged with child abuse. This place should be held accountable for what happened to my daughter. Whoever did this should be fired immediately and a police report should be filed because this is child abuse. For any parents seeing similar situations happening to their children, speak up. Record all conversations and names of persons you speak to and address your concerns with your attorney and the judge. Together we can make a difference."

Make sure to bring an emergency supply of food, water, clothing, first aid kit, flashlights with extra batteries, and battery powered radios. Follow local evacuation routes which have been marked by local authorities and only use one vehicle. Do not return to the warning area until the all clear has been given. If you are not in the evacuation zone stay where you are. If you are within the evacuation area and have no transportation locate your nearest police department or military officer. "This place is horrible I live in the area. Lived here for years and it has gotten worse because the staff allow the kids to terrorize the streets, hanging out and doing many other things. Many complaints have been given and the facility can care less. This is a children’s center, explain how kids are better off with you people than their parents?? There is no structure no security nothing . Years ago is wasn’t like this , at all. These kids come into the building and rob and hang out like it’s a block party everyday. The staff only care about the benefits they receive for working for the city . They can care less. This is a beautiful area and its ashame that every time I enter my building I have to be scared because of the group of kids just hanging in front that don’t live there . Many people have gone to the center to complain and the staff with there ghetto attitudes can care less. Please please please listen to the community and work on improving."
