About the Business

The Delacorte Clock is a charming tourist attraction located on 5th Avenue in New York City, United States. Situated between the Central Park Zoo and the Tisch Children's Zoo, this animated clock features a delightful menagerie of musical animals that come to life every half hour between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Gifted to Central Park by publisher and philanthropist George Delacorte, the Clock was inspired by the animated clocks that Delacorte saw during his travels in Europe. Designed by Spanish artist Fernando Texidor and American architect Edward Coe Embury, the Clock's bronze animals were created by Italian sculptor Andrea Spadini and unveiled in 1965.
The Central Park Conservancy, which helps maintain the beauty and vibrancy of the Park, updated the Clock's electrical system in 2017. The Conservancy relies on donations to support important restoration projects throughout Central Park, including the Delacorte Clock.
In addition to the Clock, George Delacorte also gifted Central Park with the popular Alice in Wonderland sculpture and sponsored the construction of the Delacorte Theater. Central Park is the backdrop for many wonderful stories and offers a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy throughout the year. Whether you're visiting during the holidays or looking for a springtime escape, the Delacorte Clock and Central Park have something special to offer.
Reviews
"“I love it, it's very old movie. Outside it drizzles, grey. New York City, enveloped in the light mist. Two lovers have a date to meet at 6 o'clock. It's four minutes to six. You're pacing up and down, rain drops have just started to fall. You're at your Delacorte clock in Central Park. he's waiting, the music plays. And she never comes. Or she's waiting and he chooses the other woman.” - A.R.D.I.N"
"Not far from the Central Park Zoo you can find the quaint Delacorte clock. The clock contains representations of animals playing instruments, and plays music every half hour, at 0 and 30 minutes past the hour, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. My son was keen to see this and take both photos and a short video. He remembers the cartoon version of this clock from the film "Madagascar" and was so pleased to see the real thing. As we waited for the next "performance" at the top of the hour we were surprised to see so many people walking under the clock without ever seeming to notice it. What a pity."
"The clock is NOT in the zoo! I bought the zoo ticket just want to see the clock by mistake. But the zoo is not bad to take a visit(not in the winter). The clock rings every half an hour. All the animal figures on the clock will spin and turn itself. The entire session takes about 4-5 mins."
"Great day with some sorority sisters from college hanging on the lawn and enjoying the delacorte clock on our exit. Very magical the times the moving figures the gong the song a must to do. What a treat"
"Beautiful statues and clock. Hard for small kids to see as it's high up. Behind and beyond the clock wall is a cute dancing? bear fountain with five frogs spouting water from their mouths, with benches to sit on. Also a guy playing sax in the alcove cave towards central park."
