Gold Leaf Tattoo

"I had a very poor experience and I'm sharing it to help others save their time and money. I wish I could give 0 stars. Gold Leaf was recommended to me friends. I reviewed their artists' portfolios and filled out an online form for Julie. I submitted photos for my design idea, the area I wanted my tattoo and thorough description of my design and the meaning behind my tattoo. Julie reached out to me via text a few weeks later. I asked several questions including if we could meet in person for a consult, which she does not do. I asked about the process of making changes to the design because I would only see it the day of my appointment and she said we could make alterations that day. I put down a $200 deposit in September and scheduled an appointment for 12/1. A few days before my appointment, she rescheduled. It was an inconvenience, but I was able to take another day off from work to accommodate the change. Then, at 10pm the night before my appointment, she texted me that my design would not work. She tried to convince me to move my tattoo to another area of my body. I asked if we could meet in person the next day to discuss changes because it was late and I wasn't sure we were understanding each other through text - but that's when she told me she only allows 2 redrafts of the design and that she starts charging her rate of $160 an hour the minute I walked through the door. She basically said she doesn't want to waste her time in the tattoo parlor making my design what I wanted during my scheduled appointment time. When I tried to discuss changes to the design through text (now at 1130pm at night) she said she doesn't want her name attached to that tattoo. When I asked for my deposit back, she would only provide me with half. I sent my design ideas in September - three months before my appointment. I booked when she had the design inspiration artwork available to her. If she couldn't do the design I asked for, in the body part I wanted, then she should have never taken me on as a client. This was a very unprofessional experience - between the late notice, the inability to work with me and changes I asked for, and then keeping half of my deposit when SHE couldn't do the artwork I asked for. She also mentioned that her sister is the owner of the shop. I would never recommend this shop or artist to anyone looking for a tattoo - find someone else!"

"Taylor is the absolute sweetest and amazing artist. She has done two of my tattoos, including my ornamental back tattoo. She works super quickly and is super gentle. Definitely recommend going to her!"

"My mom and I scheduled a tattoo with the owner, Chelsea, and had the best experience. We got multiple text confirmations and reminders, the shop was beautiful, and the staff were so nice and clean. Chelsea designed a beautiful tattoo for my mom and I after just two conversations over text. That same day we scheduled two more tattoos. The quality of the tattoos and the service is unmatched. There are amazing artists at this shop so please be patient as there are lots of people who want to be tattooed by them. Kindness goes a long way!"

"I saw Gold Leaf’s Friday the 13 flash last year and wanted to go but chickened out (I haven’t gotten a tattoo in over 10 years because I’m terrified of needles). I love the artists work and decided the next Friday the 13 I wouldn’t chicken out. Yes the wait was long, but if it wasn’t, I’d be worried. Long wait meant they were taking their time -even on small flash tattoos, and they were properly cleaning between clients. The vibe in the shop was way different than the places I got my tattoos years ago: those places were always so intimidating to me. This was a fun, welcoming and clean place. When it was my turn, Jul talked to me the and kept me distracted. And I left with the cutest little bee! I will 100% be back to get more and won’t be waiting so long between. They all do great work and the shop is extremely clean!"

"Just had my first born last year and wanted to get a beautiful yellow flower with her name and birthdate. Chelsea showed me this really cool sketch and exceeded my expectations. My daughter loves the colors and points to my tattoo often!! I get SO many compliments on this tattoo! Thanks so much!!"
