"I'm so happy to have found Nourish after moving to Peekskill from NYC, and leaving behind my beloved, long-time East Village hair stylist. As a newcomer to the area in 2021, it didn't take me long to figure out that this place is a gem -- a family-owned business that values authenticity, kindness, safety, attention to detail, and mentoring young stylists. I've been in for a cut about every 8 weeks for the last 12 months, since I have thick hair in a short, textured cut that grows out fast. John, the owner, is a thoughtful, creative pro who always asks for my input and takes the time to explain what he's doing as he delivers a chic pixie cut, visit after visit. He's also generous with advice about styling and how to do at-home maintenance in between visits. My boyfriend was a lifelong barbershop loyalist when I met him - and while his hair cut was fine, it hadn't evolved along with his personal style over the years. After some iffy at-home pandemic hair cuts, I finally convinced him to try Nourish. Nicole and John took great care of him and helped him find a low-maintenance, high-style look that flatters and feels authentic to him. A big win! We both appreciate the warm, welcoming, clean environment at Nourish that John, Nicole, and the whole team work hard to create. Highly recommend to anyone, especially women who rock the short hair!"

"John is a gem, and I’m so grateful my friend introduced me to him and this salon. I was nervous to go this short with my hair, but not only is John clearly experienced, he knows how to communicate around it and its very easy to just want to shut up, trust him, and let him work. But if you need it, like I did, he’ll communicate every step of the way, which he did for me and I appreciated it. He spoke about cutting hair, lines and shape, products, and seasonal changes, both poetically and intellectually, which is basically my love language. He took what I said I was looking for and customized it to my face shape, the way I go about my days, my preference (or lack thereof) for high maintenance and products, and he absolutely nailed it. TLDR; If you’re going to go short, John’s the person to trust for the job. Tell him I sent you and you will get zero discount because he deserves every penny. I don’t think I’ll have anyone else cut my hair if I can help it. I forget the name of the gentleman who washed my hair, but if he wants to do that every morning for me, I’d be fine with that. I look forward, one day, to having Lydia do some massage work for me, because after talking to her about it, I trust she’s as skilled in this as John is in cutting hair. Also, unrelated to the work, the salon’s space is gorgeous and thoughtfully decorated. Lofty and airy, but cool and industrious. I hope they find ways to even just rent out the space for other things because it’s too nice not to share it."
