"So my long boring story is that I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter, whose hair was getting very long, stringy and hard to manage. Needless to say, she needed her 1st cut. The problem is, I have heard these horror stories about toddlers full on blowing a gasket at the salon, as if you just told them that you were going to get rid of their tablet or something horrifying like that ;). So I kept putting off the hair cut and, as you can imagine, her hair didn't magically fix itself. BIG disappointment. My friend at work then recommended Making Waves Salon and specifically Sherry, who he knows very well. Although I do trust him, I really had no choice on this one BUT to trust him. I called to make an appointment, and they told me to come in an hour. LOVE that I didn't have to wait 6 months like some of these other places during COVID. I figured I'd prep my daughter, Gabriella, prior to going by watching YouTube videos of other kids getting their first hair cuts. Full Disclosure: don't ever do that. You will just find hundreds of videos that deranged parents put up of their kids screaming while getting cuts. I verbally explained the haircut process, instead, and then used my very dignified and lucrative go-to parenting skill that I often use when I have to get Gabby to go somewhere she doesn't want to...bribery by candy. And finally, we got her to the salon and the actual review that you've most likely skipped ahead to anyway, begins. Gabby was still really freaked out, but the second Sherry saw her walk in, she came over and had this incredible energy and really great approach to dealing with this overwhelming sense of fear she had. She knew all the tricks in the book (I'm now trying to find said book at Barnes and Noble) to really just make Gabby feel like everything was going to be okay. The hair washing station REALLY freaked her out. Again, Sherry to the rescue. She spoke to Gabby in the most friendly and humble way. I'm not gonna lie, I am so used to answering questions that are directed at Gabriella, because I'm sure, as most parents of toddler girls can relate, all nonstop talking that occurs at home, comes to a complete halt as soon as we leave the house and meet someone new. I have to answer questions that people ask her, or it would take 6 week for a response. What I love about Sherry, is she directed questions at Gabby. When I would go to my natural instinct and answer them, she told me she doesn't mind waiting for an answer from Gabby. Mind blown. This non-patronizing, humble, encouraging woman (sent from God, obviously) had me at hello. The rest of the haircut and blow out went phenomenal. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with her hair, and Sherry told me exactly what she would do if she were me. At this point, I trusted her probably more than I trust my mother, so I let her do her anything. Another wonderful employee there, Trish, helped keep Gabriella on track the whole time. She had these perfect tactics to ensure her head was always facing the right way and even managed to get her to look down at her lap for a good 10 minutes at the very beginning of the cut. I know this is the longest review ever in the entire universe of salon reviews, but holy s*** this place deserves it. The reason for the whole preamble at the beginning was basically to paint a picture of a scared 2.5 year old who was experiencing something brand new for the first time, and to give Sherry just a million thanks and shouts of appreciation. She also gave her a PHENOMENAL hair cut. It was exactly what I wanted, without even knowing it. I am so relieved that her haircuts from now on will not involve any fear. Sherry, thank you SO much. Just absolutely amazing and so much better than I could have imagined. Also, thank you Trish as well. I liked this place so much, I cancelled my appointment with my salon and am going to make an appointment with you guys. See you soon :)"

"I went with my 11 year old very curly hair girl... came in everyone was very nice and welcoming. I was looking to chop off my daughters hair , but Sherry the stylist didnt go scissor happy... she got rid of all her split ends, gave her curly hair more volume , shape and kept my duaghter happy by not chopping it all off , like I was planning on doing. Overall it was a great experience , and my kid is still enjoying her great cut, with fuller bouncy curls! Thanks a bunch Sherry!"
