The Salty Whale and Guesthouse 390 East Main Street, Manasquan, NJ 08736

"This used me be “our local spot”, but no longer … When we don’t prepare dinner, one of the first places we thought about was The Salty Whale, however, something has changed. The food was awful. From frozen Calamari (chewy rings with the once frozen taste), the bread on the sandwich was burnt and my daughter’s “medium” burger came out basically raw. We expect chains to serve frozen, but not the local restaurant. Three adults and 2 kids that shared a meal should not be $200 and come out of the freezer to be warmed up. The waitress was sweet but not very knowledgeable about anything. They changed their menu, which is normal for places to do, however, they took some great stuff off! Lastly, we asked for a side of bread and 2 little slices of toast came out, the same bread they garnish the clams with, and then charged us extra! It was only $1.00, but the expectation of a “side is bread” was definitely a disappointment. I have included pictures, and are sad that we lost a local spot!"

"Just a great place to hang at the bar or eat at tables. Had the Turkey on focaccia sandwich and it was awesome!"

"I stayed at the guest house for a month during the off season and absolutely loved it! Ross was so accommodating and his staff were all very nice and good company during my stay. The food was delicious each time I ate at the restaurant. Highly recommend renting a room at the guest house!"

"We had a lovely Friday evening under the tent -- food and drinks were the usual -- very good-- we tried the clam pizza-- YUM and the crab cakes were delicous. But what it made it most fun were our two servers- Mary and (I am so sorry but I cannot recall the other girls name but she is from Va. and has fabulous southern "touch" to her voice). They were so attentive and accommodating-- it was not too busy so we had the opportunity to chat with them. We always enjoy the Salty Whale- never disappoints!"

"Thank you Ross and team for an unbelievable party. It's hard finding a place to host a family college graduation. Ross made sure to keep the drinks and food flowing. He made the children feel welcomed. He was personable and kind to everyone. The staff was excellent and were very attentive. Thanks for a wonderful night! Plus it was a Saturday after the beach. Well done!"
