"My wife & I found this gem at a last minute on Jan 22 2024 on our way home. We had the Reuben sandwich and a burger. The waiter was very pleasant and brought our food to us within minutes it looked great. The service was so great that we decided to visit them the very next day. We had different waiter. He too was exceptionally great and brought our meals rueban sandwich & club sandwich within minutes the presentation was great as well for a diner. This place is consistent, they have great cooks , and most of all excellent service. We will be back again."

"Voted Best of Bergen 2023 and celebrating 48 years, this family-owned and operated establishment is located off a busy northbound Route 17 in Mahwah. Upon entering, it’s much larger inside than it looked, very pleasant, cozy., clean, and charming. The State Line Diner owes their success to using high-quality ingredients, including quality beef and fresh fish. Their homemade desserts are also made on premises. My partner and I paid them a visit today for brunch. The place was packed, and I was relieved when we got seated right away. The menu was extensive, like most diner menus, running for 20 pages with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as serving alcoholic beverages. As an appetizer, I decided on a small chicken matzoh ball orzo soup. It was tasty, delicious, and different. For the main, we got the Irish Benedict (two poached eggs and corned beef on an English muffin) with home fries and the Chicken Cutlet Avocado Sandwich with Bacon, accompanied by steak fries. The sandwich was cooked perfectly and accompanied by a large portion of fries, cole slaw, and a pickle. Unfortunately, one of the eggs in the Benedict was a bit runny, while the other was fine. The price was reasonable, with huge portions. Service is usually quite diner-efficient with a lot of care, and our server was Ozzy. We can see why patrons put this diner on their favorites list, and we can recommend it."

"Not great food, burnt bits with the waffle fries. Potato pancakes only cooked on one side. Rice pilaf is just rice but “that’s what we call it” yummy sautéed vegetables though! Nice waitress!"

"So I have been here before and it’s been a few years. I order the same thing at every diner I go to. Service was ok just not attentive. The food the Reuben. Very fatty pastrami with no flavor. My friend ordered some fries that we never got but were on the bill. Wasn’t the worst food just blah. Not sure if I would go back."

"Stopped by here for lunch while going to kaaterskill falls. Old school charm diner with all the bells and whistles. Seating, menu and ambience reminds you of old classic movies. Food is well, Diner food, it’s big, heavy, oily and delicious. The service is little lacking since I had to fold our server. So yeah. Definitely a good stop if you are in the area."
