"I wanna support you guys but my experience today left a LOT of room for improvement and I am not sure I will return. First, arrived burnt bread…and they had no butter….Then an empeñada that is more South American than Latin Caribbean. Not bad though. But then the fish did not taste fresh and I should have listened to that taste because cause my stomach has been upset all night and I am sick. But the experience was just as bad. When I asked the waitress for mojo….she had no clue what that was. How are you going to be a Latin Caribbean restaurant and don’t even serve the proper condiments with pernil or fish. The waitress was like we don’t do that….Ketchup mayo mix for the hard and stale plantains….We don’t do that. She looked at me like I was from another planet. I say this to the owner….Why Dominican? You dont’t have it right. Is there another Latin American food you might do better? Follow your passion and if it is Dominican….Then have all the condiments we expect with our food, keep it fresh and don’t cut corners in the kitchen….Fist impressions are everything! And work with the waitress. She refused to split the charge because she said she did not know how?! Just a terrible experience at a place that I had so much excitement, pride and hope for. Please step up your game…I say this from the heart….We are counting of businesses like yours to bring good food and entertainment to our Latino and non Latino community…. Your food today does not even compare to the quality of the cheap Latino places. And also fix your menu prices for drinks…. Cuba Libre (rum and coke) for 15 dollars?!? Not even in Times Square, where I work, that drink cost that much. Price things correctly please."

"We tried Saona for the first time today and it did not disappoint! I had the fried Snapper (tasty and fresh) with Yuca Frita. The side mango salad was a nice surprise! My husband had the Chuleta with Rice & Beans which he enjoyed very much. We will definitely continue to visit Saona! Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we were ok at all time."

"I really enjoyed the atmosphere and decorations of one of our newest restaurants here in Monroe. I had high hopes for this as I went with my Dominican wife and hoped to surprise her with maybe our new favorite restaurant. The menu immediately stood out to me as being a bit pricey more in line to what I would expect in the city. We ordered two drinks that had to be sent back as they were not good. We had an appetizer that was okay and unfortunately that was the best of the evening. I ordered Carnitas that both of us tried and couldn't bring ourselves to eat as it was dry, very chewy, and no flavor. My wife had the pernil which was very moist but again lacking of any flavor. We pretty much shared the pernil platter and sent back the carnitas. I am hoping that this is just growing pains of a new restaurant and they are able to remedy these issues and we have a new dinning choice here but I will be skeptical to return."
