"We approached the bakery at 8:45 to ask for some of their premade desserts. A man was unpacking boxes not twenty feet from us. We waited patiently before I decided to multitask and get our other groceries while my husband waited. A few minutes later my husband found me but had no desserts. We contemplate other grocery options for a while, before I told him that I'd get the desserts. I approached the bakery alone with a smile on my face. The employee turned around to face me in the process of moving a box. Our eyes connected. I opened my mouth, ready to speak, and then was taken aback as he simply turned around and went back to his task. I figured he wanted to finish the box before coming to me. But then he grabbed another box. Then another. Then another. I went to customer service and asked to speak with a manager. The young lady called over a supervisor, who seemed really sweet. I explained to both the supervisor and the young lady that my husband and I had just been ignored by the employee at the bakery, and I wanted them to be aware of it in case it was a protocol violation. I acknowledged the time and that I didn't know whether they were short staffed, but at the end of the day we were waiting patiently for items we never received, nor were we told that they were closed. I don't know what I expected, but the reaction I got was dismissive. The supervisor and the customer service lady just told me that the bakery employed a lot of socially awkward people, and I'd be better off talking to a manager. Okay, well I'd like to speak to them. But they told me the manager "might" be in the store in the morning. And there was no apology, no expression of "Oh I'll go get your items for you ma'am," nothing. I don't know what I expected, but a chuckle and a dismissive reference to a hypothetical manager was not my expectation. I gave up with them at that point. I intend to call tomorrow and express this to the "manager." Hopefully they'll be able to take some action. In the meantime, I will not be buying from this bakery until I know the issue has been addressed."
