New Point Comfort, located in Port Haywood, Virginia, is a beautiful park situated on a peninsula in the Chesapeake Bay. Visitors can enjoy a scenic view of Mobjack Bay and the historic New Point Comfort lighthouse from the accessible boardwalk and observation deck. The park is a key stopover point for migratory birds, with three major habitats to explore: tidal salt marsh, maritime forest, and sandy beach.
Birdwatchers will delight in the variety of species that can be spotted here, including herons, osprey, hawks, willets, terns, brown pelicans, and skimmers. The park is also home to the federally listed threatened species, the northeastern beach tiger beetle. Please note that dogs are not allowed at this preserve.

"It is beautiful here, but there is zero beach or trail access here if you don't have a boat. You essentially are visiting a dock to see the lighthouse from far away. I wish more land would open up for everyone to enjoy this remarkably beautiful part of the bay."

"The Observation Walkway is a very nice visit on Mobjack Bay in Matthews County, VA. The times I've visited it has been quiet and a nice place for some solitude from the rush of everyday life. Looking out over the bay you see New Point Comfort Lighthouse in the distance. Several different species of birds and wildlife can be seen in their natural habitat here as well. The pier offers spectacular sunrise & sunset views."

"The Google direction's had us headed down some private property but if you pay attention to the signs you can find the pier easily enough. Beautiful views!!!"
