"I rented a shelter thru kpt. Parks and rec. $30 for 3 hrs., $10 per hr., was having a birthday party for 2 of my grand kids. The shelter and facities were fine but they dont refund under any circumstances and send you with a copy of the rental agreement in case someone's at your shelter and refuse to leave you call 246-9111, kpt. Police. The problem is when you pay them for a reservation they don't post it. I mean i could have went and looked for an empty shelter but i reserved it so i wouldn't have a problem and expected them to post the reservation. Everywhere else I've rented always have. So i show up with 17 family members to have my celebration and there's about 30 people at my shelter hanging out cooking burgers on the grill stuff everywhere cause they don't know the shelter is rented as it wasn't posted. And I'm not just gonna take the only shelter available it's too small and I paid $30 for that one. So we have to go down tell all these people that we've rented it for a birthday party show them the paperwork. At first we weren't sure if the were gonna leave they were discussing it for a minute and we were giving them a minute to figure out what they were gonna do. Then we walked back over to see if they we packing up. A person with them said we're moving over to this other place we thanked them and said sorry but we still had to give them time to move all there stuff and there was a lot and one guy continued the burgers so we didnt have access to the grill till bout 45 minutes after the time we rented. Just glad they decided to move and didn't have call kpd because it was already really akward the shelter they moved to wasn't big enough for us and more a them than us. Some of them seamed not happy about it of course but ok like well we just have to move but some were giving us not very nice looks and their kids were on the playground and our kids were it was just and akward situation. We felt bad for them but it wasn't our fault. Kingsport Parks and Rec should have posted it. I have never reserved any where that you paid for a resrved shelter and they didnt post it. If i had not rented one and just went there i would have done the same looked to see if anything was posted and if not assumed it wasn't rented. I rented this shelter at Borden Park. I would have done Steele Creek Park in Bristol but it was all booked. I don't know beats all I ever seen. It was a tense few minutes at first my daughter was upset with me thinking she wasn't gonna have a place for the girls party and it was my idea to go there. I mean alls well that ends well but it was undue stress and aggrivation on everyone envolved. Probably won't rent from them again too much hassle. I wouldn't recommend it unless your prepared for confrontation."
