Both RV and tent sites are available at Otter Creek Campground, each equipped with grills, picnic tables, and lantern posts. Amenities such as flush toilets, drinking water, and a dump station are provided for campers' convenience. In addition to 39 sites available for advance reservation, 29 campsites are offered on a first come, first served basis.

The area surrounding Otter Creek boasts unique plant and animal communities due to its abundant water and warmer temperatures. Visitors can explore nearby hiking trails such as the Otter Creek Trail and the Trail of Trees, offering a different perspective of the Blue Ridge Parkway beyond its mountain-top vistas.

For outdoor recreation, visitors can fish in Otter Lake or hike along various trails, including the Otter Lake Loop and the James River Canal. A highlight of the area is the restored canal lock at the James River Visitor Center, showcasing the historic transportation artery of the James River.

To reach Otter Creek Campground, travelers can follow directions from Rte 29 or Rte 81 to access the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance. Campground inquiries can be made by calling 434-299-5125 from May to October.
