"The Priest is a great combination of length and challenge for a hike in this area. It isn't technically demanding, but it has a fairly substantial elevation gain. We arrived at 2pm, and there were a couple of parking spots available as people were already coming down and leaving. It took us just over 3 hours to reach the summit at a liesurely pace, and another 1.5 hours to get back down. The views at the summit were nice enough though fairly typical for the area. The viewpoint at the midpoint of the hike was my favorite, as it showed of the significant elevation difference compared to the flatlands in the area."
"Very difficult hike if you're heading southbound but it's worth it. False summit and real summit. The spring has healing powers, I swear."

"Great challenging AT hike with several stream crossings and 2 lookouts. The first lookout is at about 2000 feet elevation gain, looking east over the valley. The second is at the summit after 3200 feet elevation gain from Priest Wilderness trailhead. This lookout, which faces West with views of the BlueRidge Parkway can be found atop the summit past some campsite clearings."
