"I usually have nothing but a good experience at Lonesome Pine ER, but that has greatly changed. I was seen for kidney stones and some other infections. I was treated and sent home. The doctor and nurse during this time were wonderful (night shift). I get home at about 5 am and rest. Wake up the next day and discover my prescriptions were not all signed. I contacted the ER and got met with an extremely rude nurse. She LIED to me and said she'd just send the meds to pharmacy, but as a Medical Assistant I KNEW certain meds could not be called in and she was just deflecting. Over 24 hours after leaving the ER I was finally able to get my script signed. IF a doctor messes up on a script there needs to be something in place to correct it, not make a patient wait until that doctor returns to work again. I ended up requesting to speak to the ER manager and she was just as ugly and disrespectful as the other nurse. The daytime staff at this ER should be ashamed of themselves and neither Ms. Kelly nor Ms. Laura/Lora should work in healthcare after how they handled this situation. They seriously told me to come in and be seen again and apologized it would end up in another bill. Why should I have to be seen again because of your mistake? And asking me to come in again after you just told me not to drive when I just left your facility? THIS IS NOT HEALTHCARE!!!!! I will be taking this issue further up the chain as NO ONE should have gone through what I did. Imagine it was an elderly person, or someone that can't get around easily. They would have been stuck DAYS without their meds. UNEXCEPTABLE!"

"A lot of people complain about long waiting time and confusion at this and several other hospitals especially in Southwest Virginia. You can thank all those people who refuse to get vaccinated and clog up ERs when they get sick. The doctors and nurses are only human and are doing the best they can. Many get burned out and leave the profession which one makes the situation worse."

"I arrived by ambulance on valentine's day with bills pressure that barley registered. The emergency staff immediately began to treat me. Bless the nurses who tried to get blood. I was so dehydrated that they had to stick and stick. It took all of them the phlebotomist and medical technology staff to get enough blood to work me up. After all the tests I was admitted. The staff on the second floor took extremely good care of all my needs. My diagnosis was a uti and I was septic. My Dr convinced my daily that I needed to stay. And that was a job. After 3days I was discharged. Feeling much better. Only have good things to say about my stay. They are excellent!"

"This hospital is a joke. I'd personally recommend going anywhere but here. I went in with horrible congestion, sore throat, and a painful stopped up ear. They did a strep swab. The doctor came in and looked at my throat and ears. "Your ears look fine." And then asks if they did a swab on my throat. I tell him yes and he says he's going to go look at it and he never comes back. A woman comes in and gives me my discharge papers and a perscription for antibiotics. Never had my chest listened to at all, started the antibiotics yesterday. My ear and everything else is getting worse quickly. I'm just upset and feel that I didn't get the help I needed."

"This facility does not even deserve one star. I am a registered nurse of almost 20 years and a lot of that time was spent working in the ER/ICU/MedSurg. I never go the hospital because I usually am able to treat myself. On this morning however I was afraid because I had a headache for 3 days and it was the worst headache I'd ever had. It woke me from my sleep around 4am so I got my daughter out of bed and had her drive me to this facility, which is closest to my home, but still 30 minutes away. When we arrived the receptionist made the comment "you are lucky, there is no one else here so you'll be seen quickly". We still set in the waiting room 10-15 minutes before being called back. The ER nurse took my vitals and put me in a room. I explained to her about my headache and that it had woke me up and I was very concerned. Once in the exam room I still waited 20-25 minutes before the doctor came in, even though I was the only patient there and with what I consider a urgent complaint. The ER doctor came in and asked me a few questions, told me I had a migraine, offered my some a pill that contained acetaminophen and caffeine ( which I declined) and left. I asked about a possible CT scan and he said there was no need, it was just a headache. He was in my room a total of 2 minutes. I left as scared and I came and still was not able to rest. If that wasn't bad enough, this facility charged my insurance $800 for taking my vitals and I have to pay a little over $100 of that out of pocket. This does not even include the physician's bill which is separate from the hospital's. I believe I did not receive appropriate care that morning and would never trust them to take care of me or any of my family members again. I did notify the hospital of the poor care I received but they were not concerned, they only wanted to know how I would like to pay the bill."
