Bull Docks

"Had a great meal at Bull Docks on Wednesday. Started with smoked cherry Old Fashioned, and the Texas Tea for our drinks... both were excellent. Calamari appetizer was very good. For main course I had the Block Ready Rib Eye (perfect) and Laura loved her Chicken Chesapeake. Also, server and staff were wonderful!"

"5 stars is NOT enough to rate our fantastic dinner at Bull Docks. Greeted on phone (as we made a reservation) and upon arrival by cheerful Sierra, shown to a great table and our terrific waitress Sam quickly took our drink order and answered our questions to help us decide on our selection. Dinner was Perfect. That's perfect with a capital P! I had the filet which was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked to my requested medium rare. Sides were also excellent (dinner rolls before the meal were warm and delicious). Sam checked on us regularly but never rushed us as we enjoyed a leisurely dinner. Loved the food, LOVED the positive and helpful attitude of Sam and Sierra. THANKS."

"It's a quaint place. Smaller menu. Food is ok, nothing really spectacular to write about it, but that's my opinion. I ordered the chicken Chesapeake, and it was very undercooked. I don't send food back, so I just showed it to the waitress so she could mention it to the cook so it doesn't happen to someone else. The golden beet salad was good, but I highly recommend asking for the dressing on the side. We ordered 4 slices of the lemon blueberry crunch cheesecake, but 2 of them were what looked like cheesecake with raspberry puree on it. Again, we didn't send it back, but it does seem there is a lack of communication between staff. My sister ordered the crab cakes, which were $34. They had actual lump crab in them, but they were small for the price. There aren't a whole lot of choices for where we were, but if I were to stay at Smith Mountain Lake again, I'm not sure this place would be on my restaurant list. Our waitress was extremely sweet and on top of things! I'm sure had we mentioned the cheesecake issue, she would've fixed it."

"Our first visit. Good service. Fish and chips were firm and worth ordering but nondescript. Prime Rib was tender and juicy. The heavy smoky taste overpowed the beef flavor (even the next day for leftovers), and we wouldn't order it again for the price. Interior atmosphere needs some freshening up to hang with the prices. Worth trying, but we'll likely stick to our other favorites around the lake for the price."

"I took my husband to ~Bull Docks~ today for, Father’s Day. I couldn’t have been more pleased! The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere cozy, the restaurant was very clean; even down to the restrooms. It appeared to be a small place from the store front but to my surprise it was far from it. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and respectfully professional. I gave this a 5 star rating, because in my opinion it rates high on all counts. If you are looking for a uptown-meal~ Bull Docks~ will not disappoint."
