"Dear Reader, I have taken my time with this review so as to allow for a 'separations' time with-which to reflect upon the full impact that this program has had on me. A young man w/ an estranged son took his own life just weeks after leaving to move in on his own (after being there nearly three years). Another young women was constantly battered both emotionally and even physically; interchangeably by both staff and more specifically by several other male residents in the program. (I eye-witnessed a few of these episodes as we roomed together in the same dorm.) All women were housed together and all males housed together. However, there were no security cameras pointed at either dorm hall, and both hallways were adjacent to one another creating an opportunity for two male residentes (during the night) to try and steal onto the female unit. Meanwhile, the staff were falling asleep in their office when I moved swiftly to advise them of the intrusion. [4/2019]. I made certain to have her [Res. V.P.'s ] back when the overnight staff (Williams)kept teasing her with racial insults and threatened to 302 her for minding her own business and isolating to practice her breathing w/yoga. Another women, a breast cancer survivor w/ a double-mastectomy [Res. M.M.] was remanded back to the Corrections department because she put her own skin on the line for Res. M. L. when a staff member became too violent w/him while 'assisting' him at the dinner table. I eye-witnessed the same staff [Staff members: J. Williams, C. Williams, L. De La Rosa-Davenport] verbally attacking Res. M.M. calling her derogatory names day in and day out. My report has already been filed so the only praise I have is for my work companions and Household Coordinators in the kitchen who always provided me with ample opportunity to be in service and really performed in a manner which was quite admirable: going out of their way to make mealtimes and events special, majestic and aimed to please their patrons.
