Originally from Swissvale, Barry comes from a family of bar owners, with his grandfather opening the first family bar in 1938. Following in his family's footsteps, Barry opened his first establishment in 1996 and later opened Squirrel Hill Sports Bar in 2014. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Barry expanded the bar to include a live music venue, fulfilling a dream of the late Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller, who attended high school nearby.

Squirrel Hill Sports Bar is open from 4pm to 2am daily, with extended hours for special events such as Steelers games.
