St. Christopher's Hospital for Children Emergency Room 160 East Erie Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19134

"I put one star because I had no other option to pick 0. When my children were little this was a really good hospital. My complaint isn't about the whole hospital but the ER. My daughter took my grandson who's 8 months old with a fever of 103 that it wouldn't go down, a really bad cough and a lil trouble breathing. When she got there it was kind of raining, she was carrying the baby and the bag while trying to cover the baby and security guard seen her but didn't offer to open the door. She registered and was called back to a room where she waited 2 hrs and not even a nurse came on once to check up on her. She got up and walked out while nurses watched her leave and didn't say anything. The only nurse that did not have an attitude and was nice was the triage nurse, the rest seemed like they didn't even want to be there. And that's not even the worst part, there were security guards and employees just hanging out in the area where the vending machines used to be at , the area between doors , joking around and laughing hard asking each other what they wanted to eat while baby was sleeping in the waiting room and another security right outside the door where there's signs that say no smoking but he was smoking weed, the odor was so strong it was unbelievable that they were doing that right there's as if it was normal. This was the last time we visit that hospital, as long as we can we rather take the drive and go to CHOP. Today she went there and not only was in and out but my daughter couldn't believe how every single nurse, doctor and employee she came across was so nice. It was such a pleasant experience and completely different from what she experienced earlier this morning."

"I was referred to St. Christopher's by my local hospital for my toddler's fractured leg. Our first visit was through the ortho office, and they were wonderful to her. The office was clean and the staff was really great with my daughter. Her cast ended up needing replaced while the office was closed. When I called the hospital, I was told to go through the ER and that the ortho on call would be paged when we got there. The ER at St. Chris' is a whole other world. The bathrooms smell like people urinated on the floors. Beyond being outdated, the place has very obviously not been cleaned properly in a long time because there was trash and old dirt everywhere. There is an ASPCA down the street in better shape than the ER here. There were also several patients who should have been rushed in the back for immediate attention because of their history with things like lung problems, but they were left to sit for over an hour in the waiting room in their wheelchair. As we were waiting for my daughter's cast to finish drying, per the ortho doc's instructions, the regular ER doc came in trying to rush us out. St. Christopher's may have a good regular hospital, but I will wait 5 hours at CHOP before I spend another minute at St. Christopher's ER. They should be ashamed and hold themselves to a higher standard to give the children in the local community a place of dignity to receive medical care."

"Horrible service . My daughter was sent home from school and face is swollen with black eye currently in the waiting room for 4 hours and when asked they didn't seem to much to care . Lady keeps saying there's more ahead of you. If my daughter wasn't in pain I would have left but trust and believe I will never chose this hospital again"

"This is the Worst ER. They should pay you for how long you wait for someone to call you to the back. Got there at 4 PM and when i asked at 9:30PM when someone would call us back they said “There are still 6 people in front of you but if someone else comes in that has a more urgent matter, they have to tend to that person first.” Keep in mind, everyone in the waiting room came after me, yet there’s 6 people in front of me?! Make it make sense. Absolutely no reason why someone should be waiting 5+ Hours in an Emergency room waiting room. Better off taking the trip to Holy Redeemer or Abington ER."

"Worst experience I’ve ever had at a hospital if I could give negative stars I would. 1st thing is they have newborn babies not even 2 months old sick and waiting in the waiting room for hours. I took my 18 month child in last night waited 3 hours when I asked if they had an idea of when she was gonna be seen I was told 10 people were still ahead of us that was a little frustrating but it’s the er what put it over the top was a woman being in her 17 year old son (who chose to get into a fight and was on the phone bragging about how him and his friends were going to go fight some more tomorrow after school) waited and hour then (the mother) called a friend who’s daughter was working in the emergency room that at the time to and have her son brought right back and who ever the woman was told the in call nurse and they took them right back so it seem like if you want your child to be seen without waiting hours you have to know someone who works at the hospital. So I ended up having to leave, and my child was never seen so if you don’t mind waiting for hours and having your child be exposed to God knows what this is the perfect place if not GO SOMEWHERE ELSE"
