Primary Care of Silver Spring

"I'm echoing a lot of what Thomas McCloskey wrote in his recent review. I don't know Thomas but share many of his sentiments. The doctors at Primary Care of Silver Spring are fantastic and I have had a positive experience interacting with them. I've met both Dr. Kannan and Dr. Bala and they both are very nice, professional, and have great patient rapport. Unfortunately, and this is a BIG UNFORTUNATELY, the front desk staff, particularly one younger lady, is so unbelievably rude and unprofessional, that her place at this practice cancels out and voids the great experience with the doctors. My interaction with her has tarnished my relationship with this doctor's office so badly that I will no longer return and now need to find a new Physician. I'm not going to go into the details of what transpired this morning as doing so will disclose my medical information, but I will just say that no patient deserves to be spoken to in the manner that she spoke to me, simply because I advocated for myself. I left the office and had a good cry after, as a middle-aged woman (that was fun!). It was a completely miserable experience and one I hope no one has to go through like I did. Dr. Bala knows who this staff person is and I told her directly that the employee should not be dealing with patients. She may be good at her job in perhaps an administrative capacity?, but she absolutely lacks people skills and thanks to her, they have lost me as a patient. I will also make sure to not recommend this practice to others."

"The doctors are stellar but the front desk staff is hostile, aggressively unhelpful, and unkind. You could call this office but there's no point because they never, under any circumstances, answer their phone. You could leave a message (I swear that's their system for making appointments!) but since they never call you back you might as well write down whatever pressing medical concerns you have, stuff it in a soda bottle, a chuck it into the Anacostia River for all the good it will do you. My wife has been sick for a week. She called, left a message (seriously!), and when they eventually called several hours later they said she can't be seen by an actual person for four days. No urgency. No compassion or empathy. Nothing. Now we're left with either going to urgent care or finding another primary care doctor. We chose this doctor out of convenience and location but that was a mistake."

"I have been coming here for years, and I trust in the doctors and their care; however my prevailing issue is how long they would have you wait. My appointment is at 10am, it is now 10:48 and I am undressed and waiting in the waiting room forever to see the doctor? Why do they continually do this? Why overbook? I’m ok with waiting 15-25 minutes. But almost an hour. 20 minutes in the lobby, another almost half an hour in the waiting room. Ridiculous."

"Dr. Kannan is the most knowledgeable, professional, kind and caring primary care physician I have known. She really takes her time and each visit is very comprehensive. I have never felt rushed and appointments are scheduled quickly. After visits, she has called me personally several times, even on the weekend, to deliver results or provide follow-up. I feel it is five-star concierge care in the hands of an extremely thorough and professional doctor."

"The doctors and staff are great. They do not overbook, so when you arrive you are seen within a few minutes. They promptly handle refills and most importantly, they treat elderly patients well and take time to listen to their concerns."
