Civic Theatre of Allentown, located at 527 North 19th Street in Allentown, Pennsylvania, is a historic institution that has been producing live theatre since 1927. Founded by two Morning Call reporters, Civic Theatre is part of the "little theatre" movement and has been a staple in the community ever since.
With a mission to inspire, enlighten, and entertain, Civic Theatre is home to Civic Theatre School, the area's first established training program for young actors. The organization also offers arthouse cinema experiences, opportunities for artists and musicians in their black box space, THE HUB, and produces first-class non-profit theatre for the Greater Lehigh Valley area.
In 2018, Civic's historic 19th Street Theatre underwent a complete renovation and reopened in the fall of 2019 to its original splendor. The renovations have received statewide recognition and continue to amaze visitors who discover this hidden gem in the West End Theatre District.
Civic Theatre alumni include actors such as Christine Taylor, Dane DeHaan, Oakes and Winslow Fegley, Daniel Roebuck, Michaela Conlin, Tim Heidecker, and Amanda Seyfried, as well as a diverse range of professionals in various fields. The institution entertains, inspires, and enriches lives by producing high-quality theatre, presenting engaging films, and offering exceptional theatre education. Become a Civic Angel and help sustain the magic of live theatre for generations to come! #WeAreAllCivicTheatre

Reviews
"Beautifully restored theater. Nice clean friendly venue. Cup holders at the seats. Comfy seats with decent leg room. Great little attached bar. Restrooms on both sides. Small single restroom near the bar and large nice restrooms on the other side."
"It is a beautiful theater! The production was excellent, the actors were very professional! The only down sides were that the fake British accents were not always good and extremely exaggerated making it almost impossible to discern what they were saying at times. And there is I believe only one bathroom total for everyone. The play lasted an hour and 45 minutes making the tickets well worth the price."
"We saw the Little Mermaid and sat in the front row. The theater is beautiful and was restored and re-opened 5 or 6 years ago as I recall. We hadn’t been back in some time due to the pandemic, etc. The show was great! It was very well acted and sung and the production quality was very good for a community theater that is less than 20 miles from our house. I strongly recommend for others to go!"
"I love the theater. Every time I go I have to bring friends. It's so beautiful inside. And tonight was the little mermaid. Excellent show"
"Prepare yourself for a box office & theatre experience that your unlikely to forget or regret! I have seen several musicals in this theatre & have loved each one of them for their genuinely incredible execution. The theatre has been renovated & expanded upon in the past few years to retain it's original prestigious and magnificent look & offer patrons a new area to indulge. The website is fine tuned to offer a better insite in regards to the programs the theatre offers interested theatrical parties. *CONSIDER PURCHASING AN AFFORDABLE TICKET TODAY TO SEE WHAT THE 19TH ST. CIVIC THEATRE HAS TO OFFER!*"
