"Wife called to schedule an appt. for Chewbacca (a Chihuahua) with respect to a trim. My wife booked for Saturday. Wife chose place because of the reviews online. I am not a fan of bringing Chew to anyone who I don't know. Owner/worker told my wife it was $50.00 a trim. My opinion, I thought this to be a little higher than going market rates with respect to family operated boutique grooming service; however, based on research my wife done, I was okay with the price of $50.00. We arrived the day of appt. at 10am to drop Mr. Chew off. First, as I walked in, there were 3 Mee Maws behind the counter (2 blonde Mee Maws and 1 Brunette Mee Maw). The Onwer/worker was not warming to say the least, as nothing was said when I arrived on time for the appt-no greeting. The person in front of me checking out owned a small Yorkie (who must of been a regular) because all were very pleasant to her. As the woman was finished at the counter, I was next. Owner/worker at that time addressed me, at my 10am appt. as if I was the 5,000 customer that walked in having no idea who I was (mind you this is a small boutique grooming service in Homestead, PA). Owner/worker requested shot records and I provided. Owner/worker wrote info donw on an index card with a pen (Last time I looked it was March 25, 2023, so why is the Owner/worker still using ink pens and index cards as a form of a document filing system?). Owner/worker told me that he should be done at noon. I advised them I had another appt. and may not be back until 1-130ish pm. Owner/worker was ok with that, stated it closed 2:30 pm and didn't state it was an upcharge or inconvenience. I advised Owner/worker how I wanted trim and he had a couple mats behind his ears. I further advised them to be careful/gentle with him because he is older dog and with age he doesn't like to be picked up so much (hip and floating knee issues), which is entirely understandable for his breed. Owner/worker was ok with that and didn't say this would be an inconvenience to them or upcharge. Anyone who knows dogs or claims to know dogs, should know dogs, period! Especially and in light of the fact: "they claim to be a dog grooming service since 1997-this place claims to have been doing this for 26 years and, someone who alleges to be in the business that long, must have experience and knowledge of all breeds its grooming. I left and headed directly to my appt. As I headed back to pick him up, I was concerned about an accident on 376 "may" make us later than 130ish pm to pick Chew up (I emphasize "may" here). I immediately asked my wife to call as a courtesy to let them know. Again, Owner/worker did not state this was an inconvenience or upcharge. I arrived to pick Chew up and the business was still operating and grooming other dogs, but Chew was finished. I stood at the register a few minutes like a dolt and the 3 Mee Maws were all at the counter just standing there. The blond Mee Maw, without directly looking into my eyes and down at the floor, spurted out the number 65, As she walked away a few feet, again the blonde Mee Maw, spurted out the number 65 without looking at me. A few seconds later, the blonde Mee Maw came back to the register and stated my bill was $65.00, which is $15.00 dollars over the price on this small dog. I immediately asked "why so much." No Mee Maw said a word and again I asked "why so much" and "why over $50", if the price is $50?? The brunette Mee Maw, stated: "the mats behind his ears" and "he snipped", which I would have thought was included in the price of $50 since nothing was said at 10am and/or the invention of a muzzle. I was told "they reserve the right to charge what they want to charge". With that being said, haircut was terrible and overpriced. "I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO NOT GO HERE ANYMORE, I ADVISE OTHERS THE SAME." PRICE GOUGING IS A REAL THING."
