"I recently moved into the Concord and overall I’m happy with the building. The staff are professional and friendly, maintenance is responsive, and the building is well maintained. Also, there are great amenities for residents and the inside of the building isn’t very loud (thank goodness for concrete/steel buildings). My only note is that if you are moving to a unit facing the courtyard, there is this loud “motor” noise outside that is 24/7. My unit is on a lower floor, so it may not be as loud on the upper floors. I’m more sensitive to inside noise, so during the day the “motor” noise doesn’t impact me as much, However, I’m not sure I could read a book in my apartment. On the downside, I am a light sleeper, so even with ear plugs, the “motor” noise can be heard and it’s been hard for me to sleep. Also, I have no clue what this noise is or if it’s connected to our building. My advice for potential tenants considering a unit facing the courtyard is to listen to the “motor” noise in the courtyard during your tour. Also, I suggest that management be transparent about that noise as well because it could impact a residents experience. It was a bit shocking to move in and hear how loud and non stop the noise was. I do like the building, so I’m really hoping I get used to the “motor” noise like white noise and I can sleep."
"I've lived here for five years, and thoroughly enjoyed most of them. The building is in a good location and its amenities include an indoor pool, a decent gym, steam room, Amazon Hub, clubroom, courtyard, and a rooftop with views of DC (although this is changing as taller buildings continue to pop up in Crystal City). The maintenance staff is typically pretty speedy and helpful. The concierge team is stellar, especially Miles, who always wears a smile, knows everyone's name (and their pets'), and goes above and beyond to help all residents. That being said, the building is getting older. Sometimes projects and renovations are announced, then pushed back, started (finally), then left uncompleted for weeks or months. Further, a pipe burst in the elevator shaft in July 2022 causing damage to all three elevators. Since then, one or more elevators are out of service at least once a week, sometimes more. It's clear that management is trying to compensate for these issues by hosting more community events, which is appreciated; however, a discount on rent would be preferred, a request they seem unwilling to accommodate. When a problem arises, I am thankful that management is quick to update residents, but they often send rapid-fire emails that seem to be euphemistic or downplay the situation instead of being more judicious and straightforward."
"I attempted to rent an apartment at the Concord but was denied because I was unable to provide "adequate proof of income." I'm a law school graduate who has yet to start my job (that's the whole reason for moving and needing an apartment), but they refused to accept my offer letter as proof of income (even though the monthly pay is 7x rent and I start in 4 weeks). So they made me get a guarantor, which would have been fine, but since my parents don't make 4x rent (we live in the Midwest, sorry our cost of living is lower), they denied that too. Bottom line - you simply can't live here if you're a young professional just out of college/grad school regardless of how much money you will make, unless you parents make well over $100k/year. Absolutely ridiculous and absolutely no relationship whatsoever to ability to pay rent."
"I had a great experience in the Concord for the past year. If you can afford the rent, it’s definitely a great apartment to stay at. Pros: I have very sensitive ears, so I want to specifically mention the concrete building structure. You hear absolutely NO noise from your upstairs neighbors. In terms of noise between apartments on my floor, there’s always going to be mild talking you from time to time, but it’s never excessive and there’s a good amount of noise damping. The most noise you’ll hear is from the hallway, but that’s very infrequent. I also play electric guitar and I received 0 noise complaints. The amenities are also very nice. The gym has a squat rack and an assortment of cable machines, dumbbells and cardio machines. In my experience, everyone in the gym was respectful (no music out loud or excessive talking). The lounge on the first floor is nice. And the rooftop terrace has one of the best views in the area. A very nice place to spend some time. The shower has great water pressure and temperature. Cons (and fixes): I had a roach problem for a few weeks which maintenance cleared up very quickly. The maintenance team is very receptive and effective in their work. The leasing office staff and the concierge are extremely kind and helpful. When I entered the apartment, there was a horrible smell from the previous tenants. Maintenance repainted the walls and it cleared up right away. My washing machine broke one week, but maintenance came and cleared it up! But make sure to not fill up the washing machine with too many clothes. The water from the sink faucet had a weird taste, but getting a Brita or any other water filter was an easy solution to that. There was a pipe burst which caused all the regular elevators to break down for several weeks (only the freight elevator was available for use for the entire building), but it is currently being fixed and most likely be perfectly fine once you move in. The parking garage is under construction as well (again, will most likely be finished by the time you move in) which forces you to park on certain levels. It wasn’t a big deal, but you might have to spend an extra few minutes finding a spot. Overall: The area is relatively nice. There are some grungy areas, but everywhere is safe to walk around during the day. There’s an excellent walking trail at Long Bridge Park which is well lit. The restaurants on Crystal Drive are a mix of fast food, ethnic food and steakhouses (mix of cheap and expensive). Personally, I would go to Annandale to eat. Old Town is 15min away and is great to spend a day. There’s a lot of construction in the area (quite gentrified), so you might hear some noises the further up crystal drive (but not from the apartment). The metro is a 10 minute walk (if you cut through the indoor shopping mall) which is very convenient. Downton D.C. is only 4 stops away (15min metro ride). Final Thoughts: If I had a choice to live here again, I definitely would. All the cons I listed out were very case by case and will most likely never happen to you. The benefits of a fantastic apartment, noise insulation and great amenities as well as the receptive staff are more than enough reason for me to come back. The 4 stars is simply due to the construction and apartment issues I personally experienced, but are NOT something that would happen with everyone. Ultimately, I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a comfortable, modern and convenient place to live."
"Its a great real estate and located at a prime location in Crystal City. The room appliances are great and the overall planning of the rooms are good. I really liked the way I was welcomed into the room and it shows how well you look after the experience of a new tenant. Keep up the great work !!!"
