"I would NOT recommend renting with Burkentine. While living at Franklin Square, I submitted a ticket to have my front door repaired - and their maintenance employee (without approval) entered my apartment to use my restroom and did not wash his hands (when I was out of town). They defended him and claimed it was because they don't have an on-site office with a restroom for their employees to use - which is not my problem. Then, their administrative team withheld my security deposit for more than 30 days after I moved out, which is against PA laws - they refuse to answer any email or communication to resolve."

"I have rented through Burkentine for the past 2 years, and currently live at Franklin Square. During my 2 years they've gone through 3 different property managers and now our community isn't even managed by Burkentine, people keep quitting, a clear issue with management. When we first moved in we smelled a gas smell. Maintenance came out, said it was nothing. Days later we found out it indeed was gas leaking. Really great for my baby living in the home. When we moved in we were told we could have a ring camera. Now, in the middle of our lease they are imposing a ring camera & outdoor camera ban, despite many residents being against it. There is also nothing in our lease prohibiting ring cameras. But they sent a letter out to everyone saying they have to remove it or they'll be evicted. This likely makes the community a target for car break-ins, etc. It is clear they only care about themselves, resident safety is not their priority."

"Rebecca was amazing from start to finish! They were able to easily accommodate my change in move in date and get me in two weeks earlier than originally expected. Jesse had responded immediately to the two maintenance issues I’ve had! He resolved the issues quickly and professionally. Couldn’t ask for a better staff!"

"Living at Franklin Square has been a great experience. Everyone we’ve come into contact with - especially Rebecca and the stellar maintenance crew - have been helpful and insightful. The parking lot definitely fills up pretty quickly in the evening so you may need to walk to another building from where to parked - but the lots are well-lit for safe travels. I live on the first floor and we barely hear anything above us. It’s noisy when people are moving, but other than that, you don’t even hear any neighbors, beside you, either. I teach in Baltimore City and it takes me 50-1:10 to get downtown. The commute home as been shorter - 45-50 min most days. (Fill up your tank in Maryland - Pa gas prices are .60-.80 higher per gallon.)"

"My husband and I moved into the Franklin Square apartments in October 2021. We have enjoyed our time here and renewed our yearly contract for another year. Every person we have interacted with who are employees of Burkentine are extremely friendly, courteous, and responsive when a problem arises, particularly with maintenance and appliances. The cost has been a bit high for our finances; however, I know that it is the typical range for nice apartments these days. We love the town of New Freedom and the close proximity to the NCR rail trail. Overall, it's been a wonderful place and community to live in!"
