"I was hesitant to even write a review but I find it absolutely necessary to let people know how horrible of an experience I have had with head start as a whole. My son who was considered non verbal had 5 or 6 different "educators" while in Early Head Start (In less then a year period). And the last educator that was supposed to come out never showed up. My calls went unanswered many times. When I did get to talk to someone, I was told I would get calls back and never did. My breaking point was when they called to ask if my son would be attending Head Start in September. This is after they never returned any of my phone calls or answered any of my questions about how something like this could possibly happen. It is truly sad that a program meant to help people is this unorganized and unprofessional. Luckily I got help with funding and got my son into an absolutely wonderful place. I really hope my experience does not happen to other families because what happened is completely unacceptable and it goes all the way up the chain with Head Start."
"My daughter was enrolled at LCHS in the Edwardsville center, her journey commencing amid the challenges of the Covid era in September 2021. Due to the pandemic, we didn’t get the traditional volunteer experience that Headstart allows. During this period, we were fortunate to have the utmost privilege of Miss Danielle Ghingold as our preschool teacher, exceeding every parental aspiration of an ideal educator. Her empathy, profound dedication to teaching, and overall spirit truly set her apart. Miss Danielle was intentional in the way she taught and molded each student, getting to know them individually, and this attentiveness really showed in the remarkable progress of the children. She consistently went above and beyond for my daughter and her fellow students. If the possibility existed for Miss Danielle to be my daughter’s teacher every year, I would willingly invest in making it a reality. Additionally, our experience was graced by Ms. Joanne, our family worker. I recollect encountering her many years ago, as her devoted service to LCHS spans three decades. The unwavering love and support she imparts seem reminiscent of someone just embarking on their journey, full of enthusiasm. Her kindness and compassion have left an indelible mark on me. Her genuine affection extends to each and every one of these little learners, endearingly referred to as “little dumplings.” As our time has come for us to move on, it’s important to note that the impact both Miss Danielle and Ms. Joanne made on us is unforgettable. My daughter will carry everything she learned from Miss Danielle with her, and the memories of their dedicated guidance will always hold a special place in our hearts. Miss Danielle’s presence will be deeply missed but I find comfort in all the new children who will be fortunate enough to experience her impact."
"As a teacher who worked in both highschool and daycare, I'm am shocked at how bad this place is. I'm talking about the location on 118. I hope someone steps in for the sake of the kids that go there. It seems none of the teachers here like their jobs or want to work. I don't see how they could possibly count a 15 minute zoom call as a days work. I sat through one of these zoom call "classes" and there was absolutely no learning going on. The poor bored kids all had to have their parents beg them to pay attention. It seems employees make every excuse possible to not actually teach. I was given a drop off time and when I showed up at that time was rather rudely asked to wait in the car for another 20 minutes with no explanation why. I could have waited at home if they had let us know they wanted to change the drop off time. It's free, so I guess you really get what you pay for here. It's such a shame. I feel like all those kids deserve the same education as kids whose parents can afford a better pre k."
"Not nearly as courteous or professional as the head start location in Shavertown that my older son attended. A cess pool if you will."
"Very family oriented, involves parents with the growth of child. Very responsive and respectful"
