Anarkali Bazar

"I stumbled up on this place on 05/12/2023, after leaving Boston Market at Beltway Plaza. I normally get off the bus at the entrance of the mall, but I was hungry, so I got off the bus stop before the mall entrance. While walking towards the mall i noticed I was further west to the entrance that I usually use. That is when I noticed the Anar Kali Bazar Asian Market and a sign said Spices and Seasoning! I knew I had to go in there to check them out! I was soo excited! While browsing the spices, I met a lady who was browsing the spices also. I told her what I was looking for, which was Star of Anise, which she found for me. I also found a bag og ground Ginger Powder, Black Seeds, Cinnamon, Whole Nutmeg, Large container of Fennel Seeds, Indigo Powder, Neem Oil, Toothpaste with Neem, Clove Oil, Green Cardamom Seeds, Sandalwood Oil, Masala Tea, Tapal Jasmine Tea, and 4 bottles of body oil (Red Rose). The youg lady who worked there was very pleasant, helpful and informative. The prices were very reasonable. The store was clean and it did not have the odor of seafood (fish)! They carry a variety of Rices. They sell cookware, jewelry, utensils, juices, drinks, and cookies, and snacks. They also carry soap, oral products, and Teas. This is my new first-stop shopping place. The isles are not close together! NOTE: DUE TO COVID-19 THERE IS NO RETURN OR EXCHANGE ON ANY ITEM! I was looking for Seltzer Water, which I could not recall the word "Seltzer"!"

"Walked in the store and wasn’t greeted at all. The cashier and what appeared to be the manager was engaging in conversation and paid me no attention. I was looking for items for a dish and needed assistance and no one offered any. An Indian family walks in and they are immediately greeted. I then said “hello” to the cashier and she apologizes…So Terrible. Another day being Black in America!"

"Spacious, easy ample parking right across the street, large variety of Pakistani/Indian grocery items. Meat market is reasonable, better than any other halal desi store."

"Nice selection of Middle Eastern and Indian spices. Many styles of spice preparations, as well as bulk nutmeg, star anise, cardamom, cumin, etc. Prices were reasonable as well, but no selection of "Asian" foods or spices--Chinese, Korean, Japanese, etc. The meat department looked sparse, but the butcher was ready and waiting to take any orders. The gentleman at the front was kind and accommodating, and answered questions I asked. I will definitely try out their meat department when the time comes!"
