"The poor reviews seem to be a bit long in the tooth. Our experience in present time (Oct 22 - Jan 23) has been nothing but very satisfactory!! Helpful advice, excellent products, service as prompt as allowed by the supplier, knowledge and courteous installers…very neat and clean job of supply and installation of fireplace screen and glass doors. Highly recommend!!!"

"My husband called a month ago to have someone come out and take a look at our gas logs which were installed in April. We were smelling the products of combustion in excess. After a month and a bad review, the owner called me, lectured me on how hard it is to run a business these days, and threated me with calling an attorney since he claims my first review, which I have deleted, was false and he would sue me for slander. As far as I'm concered, nothing was slanderous, just truthful. We had an excess of combustion smell, and the company never called to scheudle an appointment. Very good way to make sure I never use his service again nor recommend it to anyone. The owner never responds to bad reviews, only the good ones, read down the list of reviews. Customer service is terrible. Still only a one star rating."

"Drove here to investigate purchasing a propane fireplace insert. The gentleman was knowledgeable and explained why it just wouldn't work. He was done. We had to ask about other options, i.e. a free standing propane stove. Then he discussed what the possibilities were, and what we would need to do. We agreed it was a viable option. He had us give our contact information so someone could come out to give us an estimate, so we could get started. He said at that time they even had a couple stoves in stock. We left encouraged and excited. Now it's been over a month, there had been no call, no visit for an estimate, no nothing. Totally Ghosted."

"Terrible customer service! When I had my chimney cleaned I asked the technician to check the damper handle as I thought it felt a bit loose. He told me he checked it and made an adjustment. A couple hours after he left I checked it and on the first try opening the damper the handle fell out into my hand. I called them to come back and put it back together as the cotter pin holding it together had not been put back in properly. After a couple phone calls they finally agreed to come back and fix it. I was told that it would be a $140.00 charge to reattach the handle. Needless to say this was the wrong answer. Your experience with them may be different than mine but I will never use them again nor can I in good conscience recommend them."

"I cannot recommend this company to anyone. I initially called McCready's and got a verbal quote for a chimney cleaning and stove insert gasket repair. Upon completion of the job I was presented a bill which included a charge of $79.50 for the gasket, $10.19 for the glue and $49 dollars for labor just to repair the stove. This was more thaan $100 than the original quote. Subsequent to a heated discussion the manager agreed reluctantly to the initial quote for the job. When the job was finished the door of the stove insert was left open for the gasket glue to dry. The next day when I tried to close the door it would not close and lock. It was obvious the wrong size gasket was used. The manager at McCready's suggested I adjust the handle which I did but the door never closed properly regardless. Five months later the gasket came unglued. I called McCready's and they scheduled a repair, but a couple of days later, they called to say that I would be charged for a service call. In talking to the Manager, I explained that the job was not done properly in the first place and that there should not be any additional charge. The manager insisted that too much time had passed (four months) and that there would be a service charge regardless. I mentioned the original gasket had lasted sixteen years. Needless to say I give McCready's a very low score on followup customer support. BUYER BEWARE !"
