"It deserves ZERO stars. Definitely one of the worst VA's to go to!!! People in the radiology department here don't wanna do their job! They just want to play around behind the counter while leaving you sit for TWO hours! The radiology department is the WORST for this. And more often then not your ALWAYS gonna run into staff here with attitudes. I hate this place!"
"Dr McNally and his entire VA GI team; fellow, nurses, front desk staff were extremely thorough, quick and professional when I was there for a procedure. They put me a ease immediately. Explained everything but were expeditious as well. Parking was easy. I was in and out quickly with a printout handed to me of my diagnosis and recommendations before I left. Great experience! I’d recommend to all my family members!"
"We are blessed to have this facility. I have been here many times and the doctors are wonderful. I had to be hospitalized here and they treated me with the upmost respect. They are dealing with such diverse personalities from all eras of time. Thank you Baltimore VA. I had surgery this summer and received the best care and service. I ended up having to stay for over two weeks. I was in the SICU unit on the 5th floor. All of my nurses and aides were wonderful. They took great care of me. They made sure I was fed and was comfortable at all times. Thank-you to the entire SICU staff."
"Great bunch of people here. Every one is helpful. When I got lost a few people I asked helped me get to where I was going. Even if they didn’t know exactly where it was that I needed to get to they were helpful and tried pointing me in the right direction. Even the VA police were respectful and helped me out. The cafe was almost out of food when I got there but I think they closed at 2 pm and I arrived just after 1 pm so I wont gripe about that cause they were closing."
"UPDATE: I received a single phone call on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:44am from Dr. Douglas Turner claiming to be Chief of Surgery in Baltimore Unfortunately, I missed the phone call and they left a voicemail stating they would call back another time. I have not received a second phone call, nor did they leave a return number. Is there a zero star option? Absolutely terrible experience at this hospital. I was admitted Thursday, August 31, 2023 to have surgery done on my abdomen after severe stomach pains for a month. Admittedly I was an add-on to the surgical schedule for Friday, September 1, 2023. The Thursday of admission, I was told that my surgery would take place on Friday at noon, though no firm time was given. I was fasted for a total of SIXTEEN HOURS only for them to tell me the surgery would not be taking place and that since my issues was not deemed and “emergency”, I would have to wait the ENTIRE weekend until Tuesday, September 5th to receive my surgery. My other option? Discharge from the hospital and travel the 85 miles back home (since this is the closest VA surgical center) and come back the following week. To add insult to injury, patient advocacy left early for the holiday weekend! Secondly, communication between clinics is severely lacking to nonexistent. My nurse and tech that were assigned to me had no idea my surgery was canceled and that I was being discharged! This is unacceptable treatment to any veteran that requires medical attention. I’m a 26 year old healthy and functioning veteran. My surgery was a simple, noninvasive procedure that would take a TOTAL of an hour. This information was irrelevant. If you want treatment at this hospital your best option is to be an elderly veteran with significant health problems. The simple fact that I walked into a veterans hospital with a medical problem, was forced to wait, and then discharged with the same problem, says everything you need to know. The white board in my room stated that the VA’s mission statement was “provide veteran heroes with top quality medical care”. This hospital, and the VA Maryland health care system, critically failed that mission."
