Hearing Care Center

"Buyer beware! Let me start with the good parts: I've been going to Hearing Care Center since 2018. I've found them to be professional, caring, good at explaining my options, helpful in preserving the life of my devices and responsive to any questions - this would have been a 5 star rating until my recent experience with their insurance claims practices. If Hearing Care Center is part of your Insurance care network - my advice to you is to read their forms carefully before signing and DO NOT agree to pay any costs not covered by your insurance!!! More on why: They are part of my Insurer's network, which covered $1600 of my hearing aid costs. Helpful, but still leaving me with the majority of the costs. I'd recently gotten a new set of hearing aids (which I'm very happy with) and received an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from my Insurer that noted a "discount" of $3266.77, meaning this amount should have been written off by Hearing Care Center as a network provider - which it was not. After a couple calls to Hearing Care Center and a lengthy one to my Insurer, I found that because I had signed the agreement with Hearing Care Center to pay for any non-covered costs - I was out of luck. I recognize this was my fault for trustingly signing whatever form was placed in front of me! However, I was told by my insurer that this is not common practice within their network except for a handful of Providers who misuse that form to "balance bill" patients for costs in excess of what they are entitled to under their network agreements Frankly, I feel both embarrassed and ripped off at this point."

"Took my 3.5 year old in for a hearing test, to rule out hearing problems. We saw Dr. Michelle Garrett, and she was awesome! Took her time and made my daughter feel comfortable. Thankfully, no hearing issues. If I have any friends who are in need for their kids in the future, I will send them to her for sure! From one mom to another, thank you Michelle!"

"Dr. Eackels saw my 7 year old special needs son. I started to explain how she should approach/talk to him, and she interrupted to tell me she has plenty of experience dealing with children. This same attitude continued through the appointment, despite repeated attempts by me to lessen her difficulty with him. She interrupted me routinely and demonstrated she was not interested in my opinion on anything. If you are an adult patient, perhaps she’s fine. I suggest you take your children to a different provider."
