I'll bet the cashiers repeating the same "hello" "goodbye" "do you have a tops card" gets tiring, resulting in creating a facade, especially when they feel like they have to attach themselves to the high expectations of "customer satisfaction" which that in itself is an illusion to make customers feel good at the expense of the workers integrity.
