Monica's Hair Braiding

"Unpleasant Experience - Braiding Resulted in Injuries on my scalp and my head still hurts to this . This was wasn’t my first time here and before I had a similar experience however it wasn’t to this extent. I had a truly disappointing experience with this Monica braider salon . If you love yourself please don’t use this hair salon . The braiding session was the most painful experience I have ever gone through . I was close to telling the gal who was braiding me to stop however I didn’t want to embarrass her. I paid $105 for 7 slight cornrows , she left me with wounds all over my scalp due to excessive pulling and not to mention the excessive gel they poured in my hair, now dandruff that I have never had in my all years on this earth . I took my hair down 2 days since i couldn’t deal with excessive pain. Now dealing with wounds and taking medication . She was using the most thinest lined comb to comb my hair when my hair is long and the comb doesn’t go through while she is focused on talking to her other people across. The braider didn’t even care to ask if I was feeling pain. I was turning my head several time and moving to suggest that she pay attention to my hair since they were beating stories with other hair braider in French (and yes I understand French I can hear all the gossip). I reached out to owner, expecting a sincere resolution, but all I received was a sorry . She literally said sorry and suggested I go to do another hair style on wounded scalp how amazing ! My mouth dropped when she suggested that . Customer safety should be a priority, and the lack of accountability is unacceptable. Think twice before choosing this braider for your hair care needs and NEVER AGAIN. More action is being taken as well ."

"I’ve been here previously for twist and the last time I came it was beautiful! I decided to come back. I asked for medium mid arm length twist and was given a little bit of a shorter style that I did not ask for. The girl showed me one twist and it was long to where I wanted it. I was under the impression that the rest of my hair would be the length she showed me. It is not. I left the salon because I was just gonna work with it because it was alot of work. I’m just now washing my hair and it’s shedding uncontrollably (I barely have to touch my hair and it’s shedding) and there’s incomplete twist and extremely thin twist. Looking back on it, I paid a lot and it wasn’t worth it and I’m very sad about it."

"Went in for 2 cornrolls. They had no one to do it. I settled on cod rolls in a ponytail. I wanted it to sit low and not high. The owner wanted to argue me about what was best for my head. Because i didn’t want to argue i agreed to corn rolls and single braids. During the process the owner got frustrated. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The owner was rude unprofessional and disrespectful."

"Today was supposed to mark our fourth visit to this salon. The past three visits had been satisfactory. After scheduling an appointment a day prior, we were given a price estimate based on size and style, advised to bring a specific type of hair which, unfortunately, they were out of, and allotted a time slot. However, upon arriving today, all chairs were occupied and approximately five people were waiting. To our surprise, the attendant informed us of an additional $100 charge on top of the initially quoted price, citing the length of hair. While such an adjustment might have been acceptable under different circumstances, it's important to note that our previous three visits involved similar lengths and styles (the last being only three weeks ago). It's possible that this price increase is linked to the back-to-school rush.
