Dr. Alexander Genkin, DMD

"Hello everyone, I had a negative experience at Dentex Dental at Bustleton and Red Lion, located at 10108 Bustleton Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19116, and I wanted to share it with you. I visited Dr. Alexander Genkin. Usually, I don't write reviews, but perhaps this will help you in the future if you choose this dental office and Dr. Alexander Genkin. I went to this clinic because I needed to reattach my dental bridge, which had become loose. It consisted of three crowns, with two units on the sides supporting the bridge, and a missing tooth in the middle, creating a gap. I called the dental office in advance and asked about the cost, and they told me it would be $50 per unit. So, with two units, I expected to pay $100. However, while in the dental chair, the doctor informed me that the prices had increased and that attaching one tooth would cost $160, and I supposedly had three teeth to attach. I was confused because I only had two teeth and a gap in the middle. He admitted that I was right and that it would be $320 for two teeth. He seemed to be trying to overcharge me at every opportunity. I also mentioned to the doctor that I had called beforehand and was told it would not cost more than $50 per unit. He agreed, blaming the receptionist for not knowing the prices and for the price increase. The doctor also told me that when he removes the bridge, I would need an X-ray, which he assured me was necessary and would cost $25. But that's not all, when I got home, I noticed that the receptionist had charged me $153 on my card. I didn't understand where this amount came from because it should have been $125 + $3 tax (for one tooth) + $50 (for another tooth) + $25 (for the X-ray). I called the office to ask why they had charged me more than they should have, and they replied that they didn't know what I had agreed upon with the doctor, and the doctor had instructed them to charge $153 for the service, not $128, suggesting that I may have misunderstood the doctor. They spoke to me rudely and didn't even apologize. This example is not about root canals, crowns, fillings, or any major surgery. It's about ready-made crowns that simply needed to be attached, and the doctor tried to overcharge me at every opportunity. Please be cautious when choosing a dental clinic and dentist. I would advise avoiding Dr. Alexander Genkin."

"I called one day as a new patient for tooth pain and got same day very good service. Dr. Genkin examined my tooth and explained my condition and treatment options. I decided to have root canal. Dr. Genkin and his dental assistant were friendly and professional. It was a good experience."

"I moved to a different state and come back to get my teeth fixed w Dr. Genkin. I trust Dr. Genkin's knowledge and professionalism 100% and would recommend him to anyone. On top of him being great at what he does, he's always in a good mood, eager to help, enthusiastic and energetic and makes you feel important. The last time I had a very bad situation and my new dentist at the state that I moved to only gave me 2 options that were invasive and expensive and told me I'll have to wait because I'm pregnant (believe me, there was no way I could wait, it was urgent). So he pretty much told me he couldn't help me in my given situation, without even giving it a closer look. Dr Genkin would never leave you hanging like this, I felt completely helpless. First day after I flew in I was scheduled to see Dr Genkin for consultation and he ended up fixing the whole situation, spent 2 hours w me, coming up w a great solution that worked great around my pregnancy and etc. I was so touched by how much he cared and felt great that I was in a care of a true professional who felt responsible to help me as my dentist. I don't know if it was lack of education, experience or simple decency with the other dentist, but rest assured that this would never be the case w Dr Genkin. He is a highly skilled dentist who will find solution to any problem and will prioritize due to the urgency of the situation."
