Dental Care of Columbia

"I wasn't going to write a review, but since the office has been pestering me with texts and emails here we go. I made an appointment as a new patient for a checkup and cleaning. After checking in I was taken back to the exam area where the hygienist x-rayed my teeth several times. She then immediately began a hard sell for Invisalign, something no other dentist I've ever been to has ever recommended. After a few minutes the doctor arrived and immediately began another Invisalign pitch, insisting it was absolutely necessary to save my teeth. After a few minutes of this the office assistant appeared with a written out treatment plan which included an antibiotic treatment for nearly all of my teeth and a plan to remove and replace all of my fillings. The out of pocket cost for this process would have been $800. I was in the office for nearly two hours and no services were ever preformed. No cleaning, no checkup, just hard sales pitches for unnecessary products and treatments. I should have checked reviews on another site which are full of people reporting this same sort of tactic."

The staff is very patient and caring, and the dentist thankfully has a gentle hand. The office is clean organized and professional. They go out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. I'm looking forward to switching over to the practice myself in the coming year."

"I had an initial appointment for a cleaning and X-rays at this place in early August. After taking the X-rays I sat down in the chair and the hygienist examined my teeth and recorded the dental probe numbers. She then told me that she could not do the cleaning and referred me to another woman who told me that I needed an antibiotic treatment on my teeth and gums. I not only have limited dental coverage for cleanings and X-rays through regular health insurance but I also have supplemental dental insurance that covers a myriad number of procedures. (The list covers three pages of small print). The second woman told me that the antibiotic treatment was not covered by my insurance and that it would cost me $1,200 to have it done in two visits. I immediately smelled a rat, removed my bib and walked out. Nine days later I visited a different dentist with an excellent reputation and the hygienist recorded my dental probe numbers and did the cleaning. The dentist said that I definitely did not need an antibiotic treatment and recommended that I floss more and use a water pic. So if I had been more gullible I would have paid Dental Care of Columbia $1,200 for something I did not need."
