"We've been coming to the YMCA outdoor pool as city residents for several years now. In the summer of 2021 we got a summer membership; with staffing shortages and closure for an end-of-summer staff picnic we were barely able to use our membership and we would have been better off paying per visit. At least three times we showed up during posted hours and they were closed. We haven't used the pool much this summer, but here we are thirty minutes after opening and the lifeguards are waiting for someone to staff the desk to let us in. They are very polite and apologetic, and clearly doing the best they can. It's now 45 minutes past opening time. Water is still not turned on and two lifeguards are sitting at a picnic table, not guarding. My biggest gripe here is that, like every other business this day and age, the YMCA could be posting updates and closures to their schedule via social media, if not their website. It would be super simple to check and one would not be left a) leaving with a crying child or, b) waiting outside the gate in the heat for someone to figure out how to get the place running. I've never called and had someone answer the phone. Staffing shortages are understandable, the lack of communication is pretty baffling. Also, there's trash everywhere and the bathrooms aren't very clean. I'd love to keep coming and for this pool to remain a vital community resource, but geeze...."

"I'd recommend going since it's the only public pool within 1 hr of my house. And it's only 8 bucks a person. But now none of the stuff works. Kinda disappointing for people with little kids. The food is also gross. Pizza was gross. Hot dogs were ok. But even the Slush puppie was water . No ice. I'd still go again. But it gets worse every year. Although they dod add some picnic tables this year. Some shade would be more appreciated."

"The fenced in facilities felt safe and decently clean. I hope management follows up on finding out why the pump for the water sprinklers hasn't arrived bc those would be a big positive draw. The food is reasonably priced and I like the layout of everything."

"I was disappointed. Have been going for years. Tile broken and still not fixed for years now. More pieces are broken and just sit there. No sprinklers on. Was told they may not be on for the summer. That's what makes the kids area. Snack bar had no hot food at all. No soft pretzels or sandwiches. Only snack items. I hope things can improve and get better with the maintenance of the pool. The positive side, when I last went in 2020, only 1 guard would be on the chairs (except for super crowded days) and the others sitting under the table by the deep end. They now are out and about. I never understood why 6 or 7 would be at the table and only 1 on the chair."

"I was not happy with our visit at all! The lifeguards were very rude and unfair. The bathroom was just nasty. My son did the swimming test and nailed it but the “lifeguard” who gave him the test (who didn’t seem mentally competent) failed him because he didn’t shred water for 60 full seconds, according to him he only did it for 59 seconds! Yes 1 second off. Furthermore it was a complete slow count. I truly believe this man had trouble counting to 60 himself! I think they should reevaluate the people they have as lifeguards. The only positive thing I can say about this place was, the food was pretty decent at a cheap price. And the pool is extremely to small. I will not be returning with my family."
