About the Business

Christian Crossing Thrift Shop

Christian Crossing Thrift Shop is a welcoming store located at 2 West 1st Avenue in Oakland, Maryland. Our mission is to be a good neighbor to those in need, serving them with willing hearts. We invite everyone, regardless of income level, to shop at our store, as all proceeds benefit those in our community who require assistance.

Operated by Garrett Cooperative Ministry, Inc., a non-profit organization with over 40 dedicated volunteers, Christian Crossing Thrift Shop offers a wide selection of donated household items at nominal prices. Located just across the railroad tracks in Loch Lynn Heights, our store is a valuable resource for individuals of limited means and those in critical need.

In observance of Easter, our Thrift Shop and Donation dock will be closed on Saturday, March 30. However, there are other ways to support us, such as shopping through AmazonSmile, where Amazon will make a donation to Garrett Cooperative Ministry.

Starting November 1, we will schedule limited large item donation pickups, with the request that all items be placed in a single location for easy collection. Donors are also asked to provide onsite assistance for loading. Thank you for your support of Christian Crossing Thrift Shop and our mission to help those in need.

"Just a fun place to look around; Kind-of-a- ' blast from the past' type of store, where you know you're not going to be 'ripped off' and often you find something cooler than than the expensive gift shops have at a fraction of the cost. The store does a really good job of keeping things organized, so that way you can see quickly if they have what you need or not. The employees are so nice, and will even look for you in the future and hold onto something you may be needing if you ask. Super sweet people to say the least! At times it can be a bit crowded. You realize though that it's only crowded because the store is offering merchandise at a very reasonable price, and people try to buy there first because they're tired of paying expensive and exorbent prices elsewhere. In my little apartment I get a lot of nice compliments on my decorations and furnishings. People ask me, "where did you get that?" Most everything I got that at 'Christian Crossings'. To sum up; 'I'm very grateful we have this store in our community!' I love saving money and I love the whole atmosphere at this store! super helpful and so kind. I love the way they have opened up a store with furniture and Christmas items across the street."

"I love the store itself. I love the selection and prices. However, they randomly close. We’ve made the long drive 2 or 3 times only to find out they decided not to be open that day with a sign on their door. Post on Facebook or update Google or SOMETHING. If you want to try them, you really have to call to make sure they’re actually open, even if their hours say they are. I’m not sure we’ll bother trying again. Edited to add: We DO usually check the Facebook Facebook page before coming. There have been no posts about closing the last few times"

"We have absolutely loved all the stops to Christian crossing thrift store. They have affordable prices on everything from A-Z. If you haven't three y your really missing out. They have small shopping carts. So, it's not hard to fill them up great. However, you can sit stuff up front of you need to and grab when your headed to pay. All the volunteers we have met so far are so nice."

"Items are not pricey and staff are so friendly. They have old classic items that are good for collections like norman rockwell plates which I am surprised they sell it for like $15 each, a must visit indeed. They accept only cash."
