"When I left my husband and made it clear I didn't feel safe around him anymore, he left work early and showed up at my daughter's house before I got there. She let me know and I was able to wait until he got tired and left peacefully before going there, but it was terrifying. My daughter convinced me to file for a protective order after hours that night (Monday), but I was so flustered I know I didn't do a good job of filling out the paperwork. I went to the first hearing (Wednesday) by myself, and the judge sounded like I didn't have cause to be granted the permanent decree, he said I would get one for a week and would have the final hearing next week where my husband could be there. When he was finally served a few weeks later, it was on Tuesday afternoon that we found out that we would need to be there Wednesday morning. He was agitated, so much so that after the judge ruled he called her up to see what was going on, but she still managed to get him to agree to everything, I got to keep using my car, kept my dog, and he wasn't allowed to bother me for a year, which will give me the time to establish separation for the divorce.
