"Most normal people buy a one year national park pass for $80, the more generous crowd will opt for the $20 three-day park pass. On the other hand, if you don’t like national parking this town is not for you and John Brown will send you packing."
"Total of 81 spaces at the Lower Town. Convenient to everything. Signage very confusing but if you read the fine print online at the NPS site under "Parking", the $20 applies to entrance fee, which covers parking! So...we didn't pay for parking. Will repost if we get penalized. Take off a star for being confusing."
"The lot is not as big and doesn't offer daily/hourly rates. The parking/fee signage is only at the entrance and one can easily bypass it as the letters and the sign are small! We just parked in there since it was close to the shops and assumed it was free. When we returned, almost all cars, including ours had a fee envelope on our windshield. For cars $20/Bikes and walk-in $10. We realized there is an envelope drop box also at the entrance. I'm still not sure if they accept checks-we didn't have cash. **UPDATE** I mailed a check and it was accepted."
"A strong but not mind blowing car park. $20 for a park pass will cover you if you're looking to hike, and lasts 3 days. Close to trails. Get here early as call fill up fast! Can pay via your phone or in cash with one of the very friendly park people!"
"this parking lot is most definitely not free. we spent like 20-30 minutes riding around trying to find a place to park or get a parking ticket. the signs need to be more clear in the area and google should be aware of more parking lots and inform you on how to get a parking pass."
