"Schoolhouse lofts at 1195 North Ave - Lived here for a less than a year but rent includes all utilities even internet and laundry if it's not in your unit. Never heard much noise - just the typical occasional footsteps from upstairs neighbor. Open kitchen with living room. Huge windows so there's a lot of natural light which is great. I have 2 cats and it was one of the very few apartments that I could find that would allow two pets. A lot of the other residents have dogs but I've never heard barking inside. Across the parking lot is a Hannaford and restaurants etc."
"Noise complaints are definitely ignored by management ! I complained about constant early morning noise coming from the one 4th floor resident who runs his 65 lb dog around the apartment late night and early morning (any time between 11:00 pm and 3:00 am) nearly every night and was told that they weren't going to do anything about it and I should just call the police. The tenant before me left over the noise and the next door neighbor said he'd been complaining about the problem for almost a year. When I inquired of tenants on the 2nd floor, they also said they heard the early morning rumblings. Farrell Properties like their rent money, but when it comes the addressing noise, they are a no show. So, they are aware of a definite problem, didn't resolve it, and give no disclosure of the issue when re-renting units. You should be getting reasonably peaceful apartment when you sign the lease, but don't plan on sleeping through the night."
"We lived at Thayer Commons for a total of 2 years. Each year we lived in a different unit (a studio and then a 1 bedroom). Although it is by no means a bad place to live, it is not as glamorous as the website makes out. You are paying high end prices for a very basic unit. The units are all very small and there are many strict rules you have to adhere to. You are not allowed to hang anything up on the boring white walls, you are not allowed to even have a doormat outside your door. It takes a lifetime to make a maintence request and when you do they come with maybe half a days notice. The fire alarms are constantly going off whether it is on accident or they test them it seems like at least twice a year. My dog has PTSD because of the frequency of the loud fire alarms going off. The landlord is constantly sending emails about how the tenants need to stop doing something or start doing something else. However, it took them about 3 months to fix the A/C in the common areas, a week to fix the door on the trashut and there are still tripping hazards in the ill maintained dog park. I've had employees unlock my door and come into my unit twice on accident, because they meant to go into a different unit. If your lease is almost up expect them to email you with at least 3-5 different showing dates and they are by no means flexible with when they have access into your home. So, if you work off shifts then they will schedule showings in the middle of the day with no consideration to your schedule. Again, these may seem like small inconvienences but these apartments are by no means cheap to live in. Therefore, I believe they could do a better job keeping up with the maintence and treating their tenants a little bit better."
