"After interviewing several architectural firms, my wife and I selected Cushman Design Group for designing our home in Vermont. "I met with Cushman Design Group. Originally at the peak of COVID at 2020 to discuss a major renovation of my house. My goal was to have an architect really hear my vision for my dream house and then put the pencil to paper and make it happen. To say I am not an artist would be a severe understatement, so I really needed help figuring out and visualizing the end result. To say that I was pleased would be another big-time understatement. Milford Cushman is a wonderful listener. They say you have two ears and one mouth so use them in proportion: He certainly does that. He was able to turn my dream into reality. Milford and Terri (his partner and wife) are also just very nice people…so over the last three years, during this major project, we all developed a great relationship. We have just moved in, and everything that he did -- all of the detail, the angles, the thought process, the ideas, the creativity was beyond my expectations. "We worked with the Cushman design group last fall/ winter on a remodel on our 200-year-old Cape Cod - farmhouse. These guys are really fantastic. We had in mind building an addition on the house and after a short meeting with them they turned us onto a better and cheaper idea of remodeling part of the downstairs to better utilize the space. They were particularly conscientious about cost and scope of the job while maximizing the potential of the house. They assisted us with locating a contractor and administering a job which was well worth it. They were also very good about keeping in contact with us over the whole span of the project from the initial meeting to completion. The Cushman design group doesn’t feel like a small operation but it’s not so big that we weren’t able to meet with the owner personally many times during the whole project. Their expertise and experience is invaluable. Personally, I found what we paid them was extremely reasonable given the fact how easy they made a whole process. I highly recommend for anyone, especially a young family on a budget, looking to design/build/ remodel/etc. their home."

"We’ve all heard horror stories about building a house, which makes this seem terrifying and not for the faint-hearted. Having Milford and his team on-board from the VERY BEGINNING was the only way we could have managed this complex process. Helping us understand the best way to situate our house on the site, how the land may affect or even dictate a floor plan, creating a floor plan to take advantage of the views and light… I cannot imagine having to navigate all the steps without Milford’s wisdom and years of experience. Then performing a mystical and magical feat of layering on top of what works best for our specific site, all the requirements, needs and wants WE have for the space (there were A LOT for a small footprint), and to make it flow and function beautifully.
