"Incredibly disappointing. During pre-surgical phone calls, the staff butchered my name, lost important notations regarding my airway stenosis, misplaced information regarding my medication and medical allergies, and went so far as to YELL and THREATEN me when I demanded competency. From there, the experience went even more downhill, if imaginable. Was told 2 days before the procedure to discontinue a medication I've been prescribed for a decade, a medication that I used during 4 other prior surgeries that were significantly more major and involved actual INTUBATION, not your basic twilight sedation. When I asked more questions, they told me multiple times in the 2 days before surgery that procedure would be cancelled if I tested positive for marijuana.... knowing full well that marijuana remains in the system for 30 days, giving someone 2 days notice and threatening to cancel a life altering procedure is unacceptable. When I explained my doctors recommendations, my needs, my prior surgerical experience and clinical guidelines pushed by contemporary anesthesiology professional associations, they got stiff lipped but still continued to make baseless threats. Day of surgery, no tests or even mention or marijuana.... so what the heck? Why make the 2 days prior a living nightmare, hows that healthy or helpful? Why threaten me, the surgeon, and then literally not do a thing day of? Clearly they just try and frighten patients into non consensually abiding by their baseless and archaic rules that have no grounding in contemporary medicine. They even advised me to UP my prescription narcotics dosage to stop the medical marijuana, without prescribing doctors approval- this grossly overstepping behavior is exactly the type of actions which have allowed for the perpetuation of the opioid epidemic. Yall should be ashamed and have been named in my state filed complaint."
