"This place has such kind and understanding people, wonderful therapy services, and even treatment for those who are Anemic like me with Iron Infusions. (Low Iron)"
"They treated my dad for lung cancer 2022. One day the radiologist walked into his INFUSION which he'd come to by himself and told him ' You're Screwed, it's spread. You probably have 6 weeks. You dont need the infusion.' He had to drive himself home, knowing he'd have to wait days to see his main caregiver Monday to get more info. Friday at 4pm got a phone message canceling his appt. When he called to reschedule they told him since he no longer needed treatment he was no longer their patient. No advice on palliative care, hospice. Nada. Cannot imagine a less caring place."
"First time here was a storm, Told to come in early, they were closing early. Waited an hour! Should have just waited until my scheduled time! My time is valuable! Mentioned it to nurse and she rudely said, “I had to have lunch”. Girl on the phone once told me to “have a good one”. Overall, Very unprofessional! Just go elsewhere!"
"The doctors speak to their patients in medical jargon and act like there’s a cookie fit for all cancers. I would never allow myself or any member of my family get treated here. I believe, though I know my mom would die, she would’ve had a better quality of life going somewhere else."
"Have been taking my wife here for infusion therapy for Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis for the past 6 months. We have, (had) another 18 months to go, a long haul, she is in the advanced stages of her illness. In December we were told that we would not be able to come here anymore, that we would have to drive to Waterville for treatment. They claimed they were "to busy" in Augusta. In the 6 months I took Ellen here, I observed between 2 and 6 people occupying 14 infusion chairs on the side of the infusion room we were sent to. (It's a habit, I worked for 25 years at efficiency and process optimization and labor utilization). So my direct observation of the past 6 months was between 15% and 38% capacity utilization, and I am a trained expert at this process, I taught the process of efficiency in a Fortune 150 company. When they told us we couldn't go there because they were over capacity I explained my direct observations of the last 6 months. Then they changed their story and tried to tell me that the infusion experts for what my wife needed were in Waterville, another load of horse hockey. This is an IV chemotherapy infusion facility of specialty drugs compounded on site, which is exactly what my wife was getting, IV infusion. of a specialty drug compounded on site. I asked for a better or REAL explanation, got nothing from a scheduling supervisor who promised that someone from the Alfond Center would call me. Do you think I have gotten a call in the last month? No. $8700.00 a month for the last 6 months to be treated like this. From where we live driving to Thayer is like driving to Maine Med in Portland, If we had been told that we needed to make that drive for the next 2 years, we would not have started this in the first place. Very disappointed. Most of the nurses are VERY nice there, I hope if you have to go to this facility, you don't have to deal with the administration. Best of luck and I hope your therapy works for you. I wonder when Maine General will start telling people they need to drive 40 miles to get an X-Ray or stitches?"
