"Stay far away from Saco Bay Rentals. This company (a married couple) demonstrated a rare combination of inexperience, incompetence, callousness, and dishonesty that culminated in an all around horrific experience for me. The only thing they did was list my property on their site. They never visited my property, or checked on my home after their guests left. They said they had “too many other properties to visit “. The neighborhood joke was - where is the neighbors share of the profit? I was lucky enough to have neighbors watching my property, the realtors never even stopped by. They always had to be asked to deposit the money into my account - weeks after guests left my home. I had to hound them to make the deposit- every single time, and there was always some excuse for the delay They told me that it was ok that their maids (another story all on its own) left my home unlocked because “there is nothing of value there”. After their last guests damaged my home they refused to submit the damages to their insurance company for a whole host of various reasons - each day brought a new excuse or brush off until it was ‘past the 30 days’. They were not accountable to me in any way. This is not a reputable, responsible or respectable company. Those final “guests” who rented my home through Saco Bay Rentals smeared feces all over the bathroom and the ‘maids’ never returned to clean my home, but I did not receive a refund for the cleaning fee. Beware of the shifty business practices of this company and stay far away from Saco Bay Rentals."

"Believe the low reviews of this place. They don’t really care about their own reputation and never look out for the best of the renter, just what’s in their own best interest. Unfortunately they’ll rent you anything to make a buck for themselves, regardless of the condition of the rental property. Pretty much how they’ve always operated."

"My family and I were looking forward to a much needed vacation, and we showed up to a very dirty house. With four kids under 6 and major jet lag, leaving and finding a new place wasn't an option. We ended up going out and buying cleaning supplies and new pillows and blankets. I wish the experience was better and the lady who rented this house to us was more understanding. She has been very rude about the whole situation."

"Stay far away from this rental company. The place we stayed in clearly wasn't cleaned or inspected. The refrigerator had old food and drinks inside that were left by the previous guests. Overall the house needs some serious work done before being rented out again. The furniture was ratty, stained, and actually starting to deteriorate (lifted a couch to discover chunks of sofa on the floor). Coffee table had a very loose leg that prompted us to remove it from the living room until we left. Ceiling fans were so loose and unstable that we had to shim them in order to make them usable. Half of the floor fans didn't even work so we had to buy our own since the house had no AC. The top 4 steps of the stair case creaked very loudly which was GREAT for waking people up in the middle of the night. The carpet in the upstairs hallway was bunched up in places which caused tripping hazards. We also went out and bought new bedding because the sheets and pillow cases on our beds were stained. Before we could even wash anything we had to bleach/sanitize the washing machine because it reeked of mildew. The deck looked like it hadn't been painted/sealed in about 3 decades. There were a couple of loose boards and I am very surprised that nobody got any splinters. Hot water tank should probably be replaced as well because if you were the 4th person taking a shower it was going to be cold. (Considering we were staying in a 5 bedroom house, the tank should have a higher capacity). Moral of the story; Stay away from Saco Bay."

"The worst vacation experience of my life. We stayed at a cottage right near Old Orchard Beach. The cottage itself was adorable but definitely needed work. The couch was unusable due to the cushion wearing so thin that you could get splinters from the wood. It had obviously not been cleaned, there were cockroaches in the kitchen, sand and hair everywhere, dog hair in windowsills, the grill caught on fire and the air conditioner was so old and crusted with filth that it couldn't handle the 100° heat wave. They offered to move us to a different house that was a major step up... but the huge house did not have air conditioning. I ended up having to take the kids and the dog to a hotel for the rest of our vacation to avoid heat stroke. We stayed at their property for 3 nights and then went to a hotel. They refused to give me a refund for the other 4 nights and told me that we could finish the week if we wanted. After packing up, cleaning and moving twice in 100° weather by myself, with 3 kids and a dog.... they couldn't even be bothered to bring a window unit. Book through VRBO, not their website and maybe you will have a chance for a refund if they ruin your vacation!"
