"The Hallowell Center employs therapists unaware of HIPPA laws, regulations, and how they work. This lack of knowledge has thrown our family into a tailspin for the last five years, and I have had enough. My son had been seeing Ned Bliss for several weeks when I became aware of my son sharing with him an event involving me that was entirely different than my interpretation and what I believed actually happened. I was told later by Dr. Hallowell that this is a common occurrence with ADHD individuals. I called to speak with Ned but had to leave a message, I mentioned that I wanted to share some information/insight to help my son's therapy. Ned proceeded to tell my son that I called and then proceeded to write my husband and me a condescending email stating that he could not talk to me without my son's permission. He further stated in the email that "friction clearly existed prior to this morning's events," I did not know there was friction in my family until he told me there was! My calling to give my perspective is not a HIPPA violation; I did not ask for information about my son's therapy; I simply wanted to share information. For Ned to share that he was aware of "family friction" prior to the event IS a HIPPA violation of my son's privacy. This event has destroyed my relationship with my son, and there was little to no effort from the Hallowell Center to fix it, even after I spoke with Dr. Ned Hallowell. He offered to meet with my son and me, but at that point, my son was so enraged there was no way he would go anywhere with me."

She cares so much and I am so grateful I get to work with her."
"Have worked with Michele Graney, NP who is excellent. She's kind, compassionate, thoughtful, and a good listener who is very knowledgeable about ADHD and its challenges. She's skilled at managing ADHD and helping clients make a plan suited to their individual needs and lifestyle. She also very pleasant and easy to talk with. I highly recommend Michele."
"Even though it was out of pocket, I really enjoyed my testing experience at Hallowell. I'm a late diagnosis, and everyone was very kind and helpful, particularly Dr. Sharma, and the RN who managed my medication afterward testing, Karyn Carter. If it was just about interfacing with Karyn, I would keep going! She was so kind, encouraging, and helpful at every appointment. I give Dr. Sharma and Karyn 5 stars, hands down. The low rating comes from the difficulty in refilling prescriptions and the inefficiency and rudeness of some of the support staff. Honestly, it's obvious that the infrastructure is chaotic. While the individual care providers I interacted with were truly excellent at their jobs, the system supporting them seems outdated and disorganized. Examples include: (1) Suddenly and without notice stopping accepting pharmacy refill requests leading to a gap in medication (2) Never fulfilling a records request from my PCP (3) When I needed to transfer care to my PCP, I had to re-request those records (initial request was 6 months prior and went completely unanswered). I was told it would take 2-3 weeks, and then they told my doctor's office that they didn't know when the records would be sent over. I called to clarify the conflicting information, and was told five times in a very condescending tone that I should wait until the end of the 2-3 week waiting period to see if my records appeared. I repeated that I had originally requested the records in January, they had never been sent and never been communicated, and that there were conflicting messages, so I'm just following up. I then asked what the procedure was, she told me she was new and didn't know and would theoretically get back to me "hopefully today" just to see if someone had initiated the request. A minute and a half later, a different person named Laura called and said that the records should be sent to my PCP today. I am frustrated by the unapologetic condescension of the staff while I am repeatedly having to advocate for myself when following up on their mistakes. I suspect that the reactions I'm receiving are more about the stress of over-worked people trying to make the best of a poor infrastructure, but it's not acceptable. Hallowell, please pay for the systems and staffing needed to support your support staff. They deserve it and so do your patients."
"first of all, they do not accept insurance (when i went). Cha ching. Must pay with cash, check or credit card. secondly, hallowell was completely checked out. Spoke with me for 5 minutes. Barely made eye contact and prescribed a drug. Said sometimes it works and sometimes it does'nt. when it was not a good fit, offered no other support of any kind. Now, this was 20 years ago. maybe something has changed, but it really felt like a money mill to me. years later, i find that there was a better medicine for me at the time."
