"I saw Dr. Cronk to both implant a spinal cord stimulator, and nine months later to remove it. I’m quite sure that Dr. Cronk had nothing to do with the failure of my stimulator to help me, rather that the overall incidence of stimulator failures is pretty high. On removal, Dr. Cronk confirmed that the placement of the paddles was perfect. As an aside to those considering an implant - do your research, as in reading papers on PubMed or Cochran. And yes, my trial was effective. But back to Dr. Cronk, she’s smart as a whip and exudes confidence and calm. Regarding her bedside manner, I felt she listened well, she addressed my concerns, and she did not shy from enumerating the risks and possible complications. However, she is a bit cool in her demeanor, and not one to smile much. That said, my primary concern was getting a highly competent surgeon, and as far as I can tell, she is that. As long as you’re not in need of a doctor who makes you feel warm and fuzzy, you can’t go wrong choosing Dr. Cronk. You’ll be in good hands."

"I saw Dr. Hoang today for an issue with my knee. He never asked me where it was hurting and touched the top part of my knee. He said he couldn't understand where all the brusing is coming from, but never told me what his prognosis is. I had to find that out when physical therapy called and told me it was tendinitis. That was news to me. I called back and talked to a nurse, and mentioned that there was brusing that he didn't mention anything about, either or doesthe fact that pain on the side of the knee mean the same as having tendinitis on the top of the knee. I ended up leaving there with a note saying I could work, but I am supposed to stay off the knee as much as possible. How does thst work for going to work then? I felt like he was quick in, quick out. Never asked any questions, just felt around, said it was tendinitis, I guess, and left. I am looking at a second opinion before I schedule anything else to be sure that this is all that it is because I feel like I was just a number. If the same answer comes up with a different doctor, that's fine, but at least I will feel like the time was taken to get that answer. A follow up. The doctor gave me an immobilizer to help me keep my leg steady so I can sleep at night. If he asked where the pain is, I would gave told him on the left side of my knee, right where one of the rods in the immobilizer goes up the leg. After I put that on, I couldn't keep it on for more that a half hour before I had to take it off, it hurt so bad. This means another night of only a few hours of sleep because I can't find a position to keep my knee from hurting to the point where it wakes me up."

"I hadn't seen Dr Itenberg in probably 3 years but I was having a new foot issue so I used the online "request an apt" to make an appointment. That request page takes a name, email and phone number and they call you to schedule an apt. I received a call back and the next available apt was 2-3 weeks away, further out that I expected but I took it. I showed up at my appointment today and they said it was canceled. Apparently, the number they had for my account was my old number and the person that now has that number decided to "press 2" and cancel my appointment. The receptionist said she tried to reach me to reschedule, but the only number on my account was my old number and she could not and that I'd now have to reschedule again. There are many breakdowns in this process. First, if you call someone to make an appointment, why wasn't my contact information updated? They obviously had my number and it was different than what was on my account. Second, if an apt gets canceled and the wrong person answers the phone, that should be a red flag. Lastly, to not try to make any attempt at seeing me that day, even though the mistake was of no fault of my own, shows poor customer service. The office has poor processes in place and poor customer service. I was traveling 30 minutes out of my way to go there because she was my podiatrist before I moved, I will no longer be using that office and I'll just use a podiatrist that is closer to where I live."
