"I have used choice of insurance's service and recently has a quite unpleasant experience with them. Last year my property insurance with them is $4300, this year, it increased to $5500, I decided to leave the after two months, they basically charged me one additional month insurance fee as penalty. I argued that there is no such cancellation fee rate for insurance policy, they showed me that in the 125 pages insurance declaration, there is a sentence:" Short rate cancellations do not entitle policyholders to a refund proportionate to the coverage period left in the policy term. When a policy is a short rate cancellation, there are administrative costs and penalties charged by the insurance company. These costs are deducted from any unearned premiums and serve as a disincentive to cancelling policies early. You can see, there is no clear amount of cancellation fee, all they said is that they could charge admin fee, if this is the case, now they charged me $500 extra, does this means that they can even go as high as $5000 or whatever amount they want to charge? Be cautious of the policy trap!"
