"If I could give ZERO stars I would. I want to caution anyone considering pearl for short term disability or anyone who has it to be very careful dealing with this company. If I would have read a review like this prior to signing with them, it could have saved me a lot of stress and frustration. I signed up for pearl through my employer. The first red flag was when I signed up through a representative who mishandled my paperwork and signed me up for less of a monthly benefit than what I desired. A higher up within the company attempted to this and backwrite my paperwork, however, due to desiring additional benefits I had to complete medical underwriting where it asked if I have ever received mental health treatment in the last 5 years. I answered yes because I saw a therapist for 2 months in 2021. I was denied for additional benefits due to this. As a counselor myself I found this abhorrent, but due to being pregnant and unable to seek a different company for disability, I stuck with my original $1200 per month policy. I am now 8 weeks into my leave (I had a cesarean section) and my final check is only $840. It was explained to me that I would receive $1200 per month, it was never stated in any paperwork that i would be shorted due to a weekly calculation. I am so repulsed by this company. Their claims examiners are short, unreachable, and unhelpful. I’m not sure how anyone who works here sleeps at night. Save yourself the trouble, do your research, and go somewhere else."

"Have been out of work for nine weeks wait for the first week should get 1200 every four weeks go back to the doctors on the 13th which will be nine weeks that I’ve been out there telling me I have to wait till the 17th so I’m going 3 1/2 weeks without any benefits because they won’t give me the 3 1/2 weeks of my claim doctor pulled me out because it’s not a full month so basically why do I have pearl insurance if I’m gonna have to wait for my money till I go back to work it’s just a waste of money I’m canceling all of mine with them which will save me $330 a month and they did not care at all the lady was very rude obnoxious Dorothy my claims representative and I don’t recommend pearl insurance for anybody all my family and friends are also canceling!!!!"
