Used in the 18th century, and the only known African Burial Ground in New England, the cemetery was paved over to further development in Portsmouth. This is a must visit for anyone interested in Black history in New England."
"What a pleasant surprise... an African Burying Ground in New Hampshire! I was shocked to stumble upon this place on my daily photo walk. The area is not the largest but I appreciated what was available. The space could be larger and it definitely could use more opportunities for visitors to read/hear more historical facts."
