Conanicut Battery Historic Park

"Conanicut Battery offers easy walking and a beautiful view of the water, along with well-written signage with photographs, maps, and diagrams. The Friends of Conanicut Battery have preserved the site since 1997, with rehabilitation efforts completed in 2002. Events are held throughout the year, including the next Battery Day historical reenactment coming in Spring 2024. The park is open from dawn to dusk. Ample parking is available. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear while walking the sometimes hilly trails."

"Beautiful historic location tucked away from the main road and main tourist attractions. A quiet reflective place with easy trails around the main battery area. Dog friendly as well."

"Nice place to walk about and read the stories of early Jamestown. Interesting to know that history like the island had very few trees back during the 19th century . All man made to support the livestock . I do recommend this park, and the town could do more to celebrate it’s own historic location in the Northeast."

"After visiting Fort Wetherill this other local attraction was much more enjoyable. Wider trails, no graffiti, and signs. I'd normally only rate three stars but, if you are visiting the area and deciding on one or the other then visit this one."
