"Greg Raynard is, without so much as a scintilla of hyperbole, an amazing tube amp technician. The only negative you will ever hear is that he is slow in terms of turnaround time. At times, in fairness, this is in fact true to the impatient "i need my amp repaired yesterday" type. However, the speed at which your amp servicing is completed is wholly understandable when one drops off his or her amplifier and sees the walls of amps awaiting the attention of his meticulous, uncompromising skillset. He is not "slow;" that is an unfair characterization. Greg is "busy." Couple that with Greg's attention to detail and unwillingness to just simply slap parts in your amp and move on to the next one and you will better understand the turnaround time. When you receive a call that your amp is ready, know that it is ready - it is HIGHLY unlikely that you will have to take it back because something is still wrong as has happened to many people i know whom have dealt with other techs. Be patient; you will be pleased with your service and, as many of us have learned, relieved that you found your forever tube amp tech. It is a great feeling to have such confidence. Greg has amassed a vast body of tube amp knowledge and has gained a wealth of experience through the application of that knowledge and an honest, old school work ethic. Where Greg really shines is in the realm of modification. He is forward-thinking. With knowledge and experience as his guide, Greg can change your amp that, for the most part, meets your needs into one that fully meets your needs. No need to search for a new amp; there is every likelihood that Greg's wizardry can spare you that drama. He worked wonders on my Mesa. It runs cooler, it breaks up sooner and over a broader range, it has been tonally enhanced (btm end is so tight - never muddy), and these modifications were done at an incredibly fair price. I was stunned, and even felt that i should have paid more, and when i returned home and plugged it in i knew i found the only tech that will ever service my amps. He is the only amp tech i will ever recommend because i know he can be trusted. I recommended Cranky's to my cousin, and he had 3 amps serviced there and he was completely JAZZED and thought the repair price was oddly low. Greg also does AMAZING fretwork (he worked for Parker Guitars). The same patience and meticulousness Greg demonstrates with tube amps finds its way into everything he does. Greg is a great communicator; he will ask you the right questions in order to effect customer satisfaction. You will NOT have to return to Cranky's because something is wrong - to me, that's huge. Not that it matters to some people all that much but, in addition to his tube amp/guitar tech accumen, Greg is kind, humble, honest, personable. and devoted to his craft.
